I'll be in the process of burning a trying to burn Video files onto a DVD and as its in the middle of burning it would suddenly close for no apparent reason.

Anyone know what the problem is?

Which version of Nero are you using like 6.6.0.18 or 7.8.5.0?

Might just need to do a clean install - uninstalling nero and running the clean tool for the version you are running.
Reboot then run a registry cleaner like the good free ccleaner. Use the issues and cleaner options.
Then install the latest for the version - 6.6.1.15a or 7.8.5.0.

Anything else running? Close any unneeded programs.

Ok I just did what you said and I also followed to DVD burning tutorial. But I keep getting a message when I click on the write button saying there's not not enough free space to start the recording progress when there's at least 5GB.

How much free space do you have on your hard drive?

Clear up enuf to do a disc defrag - 15%-20% of the hard drive should be free to run it.

Clean out the temp files too. Here's a good free registry tool - ccleaner. Run the issues and cleaner options. Does a better job at cleaning out temp file then the windows utility.

If your comp is running ok and there's no constant crashing etc in normal use,you can free up more hdd space by removing all but the most recent restore point, you can also decrease the amount of space from the DEFAULT amount that system restore uses from 12% to 5% here's how
1-REMOVE ALL BUT MOST RECENT POINT > clik on START,right clik on MY COMPUTER,right clik on C DRIVE,left clik on PROPERTIES,clik on DISK CLEANUP & wait till it's finshed calculating as soon as it's finished another window will appear, clik on MORE OPTIONS,at the bottom under SYSTEM RESTORE clik clean up when that's done continue with disk clean up or not

2-REDUCE AMOUNT OF SPACE SYSTEM RESTORE USES >clik START,right clik MY COMPUTER,left clik on PROPERTIES,clik on the tab SYSTEM RESTORE,clik settings button and use slider to reduce to whatever size you want then clik ok then ok again on the original window

You can free up even more space by reducing the pagefile size and unchecking the hybernation option these two alone can free up 2GB from factory settings

free up more disk space by deleting unused programs and dumping any MP3's,MPEG's,Pictures,emails etc to CD or DVD-ROM

run DEFRAG in safe mode that way only the minimum proggys are running and you'll get a better job of it, tho you'll need a minimum of 12% of drive space to do so or you'll get the warning message

I wish there was a warning saying that it wil only work if 10 -12% of the drive is free, my hard drive is almost full and I bought thus to burn movies and THEN free some space on my hard drive. It seems its like a waste of money now.

Windows I thought did give a warning when you got low on hard drive space available - not sure when though.
scorpNZ should be able to fill in the details.

Not a waste - just need to start clearing up some space and doing a defrag along with the other maintenance.

Which app in Nero are you using? You can turn on burn at once - no hard drive space is used. Not a big fan of this cause if any problems with transcoding/encoding the file the burn fails and you have a coaster.
Does the encoding and burning at the same time.

I have realised that the pornlem is with the video files I'm trying to burn. When I tried to back up the files to another drive. A lot of error logs were produced.

Is there any thing I could use to fix these errors?

Here's something you can try - DivXRepair. Free so worth a shot.
