I am using Nero 7 to burn my +R DL movies, but I can't seem to finish the burn. It starts out fine and when it tries to burn the 2nd layer it can't. I am using Nero Express to burn the movies. Us the Video/Picture tab, select DVD-Video File icon, and then add the two folders Audio_TS and Video_TS. Like I said is starts fine but I get an error when it starts the second layer. Please help.

Hi. Post your Nero History Log section for the burn. The log is in this path:

    Program Files > Nero > Nero7 > Core > NeroHistory

Be sure to delete your name and program serial number before posting the log section.

A possible cause for this problem is out of date firmware.

You might also try using ImgBurn (free) to burn.

I tried to use ImgBurn but the problem is that my Video_TS Folder is on my computer already and ImgBurn will not burn folders. It wants a iso file. Below is my History file:

You can use the Build mode in ImgBurn to make an ISO image file that can be burned.

You can also just open the VIDEO_TS file in DVD Shrink and create an ISO file as the target output.

You can also just select the Image Recorder in Nero as the output instead of burning a disk.

There's a much newer firmware for your burner here:

    ftp://ftp.benq-eu.com/dvd-rw/firmware/dw1650/dw1650_bcic.zip

The log doesn't identify the disk manufacturer for your DL media which usually indicates it wasn't recognized by the burner firmware. Updating the firmware may help. Verbatim +RDL media is about the only media all burners seem to have few problems with and like best. Burners seems to have varying degrees of problems with Memorex, Ridata, etc., which are almost always media made by Ritek and Ricoh.

Your version of Nero 7 is pretty out of date. Run the Nero 7 Clean Tool and then install 7.9.6.0.

    http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html
    http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php

The Roxio CDRAL driver is installed which has been known to cause problems with some system configurations. After running the Nero 7 Clean Tool and before installing the updated Nero 7, run the Nero Driver Clean Tool:

    http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/Driver_CleanTool_and_RegistryChecker.html

I'm not a big proponent of using Nero for burning DL media. ImgBurn is a better choice in my opinion for DL media.

I created an iso file out of the VIDEO_TS folder using ImgBurn. I tried to burn the iso file using ImgBurn and it failed. Here is the error message.

You need to go to the ftp link I provided above (just paste it into your browser), download, double click and follow the prompts, and update your burner firmware. You have one of the earlier releases and that may be contributing to your problem.

The GQ media you're using is likely made by either Ritek or Ricoh. Either can be difficult to burn without the latest firmware. Verbatim is the DL media of choice and is the easiest to burn for most burners.
