Glad you're happy with it but I stand by the fact that Nero 8 is not worth the money as upgrade from 6. It's not about stability as that is not an issue, but about added value and there is little. If I buy an upgrade 2 versions up I expect a decent change, something that wow's over the old version, and it's basically much of the same wine in a new bottle, a bottle that I don't think is an improvement. For instance Nero Recode, I was made to expect it's a step up from the old Nero Recode, but, it's dissapointing and only little different from the old version, there are much better converters around for free that provide more options, and there is more of such.
I see no reason shrink should be involved in a debate over Nero stability. Shrink was a third party app designed to use the Nero Burning Rom rather then program a burning engine into it. As for updates, the same is to be said of alot of apps. However if you want to look at the facts Nero 7 released 18 different versions full of bugs in a very short span, and besides Vista support seems to be the reason they released V8 so soon.
I decided to look back at this thread and found such profound discussion that I was surprised !! So out of all of this again... what of all the "users" of Version 8 is in everyone's opinion the most stable? Again I am not asking for a dissection of the version, nor the size of its "footprint".....simply a concensus of opinion on the most stable version. I would appreciate the valued comments of "users" of this version. That was the intention of this thread. Thank you
@Pacman777 Looking for older versions of Nero? Try www.Filehippo.com All the way back to 7.0.1.2 Nero here
Thanks blivet. My google skills seem to be getting worse instead of better. That should help Appa when the decision is made on a desirable version.
So 8.3.1.2 should be available yet and I will install the app on my new laptop that has no Nero on it and go directly to that new version and install it instead of doing an install from the original CD, correct. Thank you. And I understand that if there is a new update and it necessitates me to install it that I should use the Nero Clean tool as a precautionery measure and clean out all remnants before the d/l of the newer version. Again, thank you for your time and consideraton re my query. I just let the matter go by the boards as I had an assignment I had to get done and then came back and was rather overwhelmed with where the topic had gone to. I again realize that there may be a lot of fans of Nero just as there are of other applications and respect freedom of choice...it just happens that I have the CD to install and wanted the experienced advice of users in this Forum. Best Regards
You've pretty much got it right. With Nero you're better off using the newer version download than the CD. No need for the cleaner tool with new installations. After that, using the cleaner tool isn't always necessary though. It's usually used if the installed version is causing problems. It can be used as insurance to prevent having to reinstall. It doesn't take long to delete the old program and use the cleaner tool. So, it's a few minutes that can save several. I've gotten into the habit of using the cleaner tool when I install the program (for others, I've not reinstalled on my PC for the longest).
8.3.1.2 is the version I am using. It seems to be fine. I still have problems with the advrcntr2.dll error, but that does not seem to be a Nero problem. If anyone has any suggestion for the advrcntr2.dll fix, I would greatly appreciate it !!!!
