I am being told Pro-Coder yields a much better quality mpeg than Nero. Is that true? How much better? Thank you.

Is it further to Seattle or by bus?
If an orange is orange, why isn't an apple, apple?
My point is, quality is comparative. If it's good enough for your eyes, then the quality is fine.
In my personal experience, Canopus is FAR better than (almost) all other dedicated encoders.

But the Canopus encoder does not allow for making menus etc... How does one handle a one hour show in Pro-Coder?

Do you want an encoder, or do you want a DVD authoring program?
Nerovision just happens to do both.
If you want quality, encode in Canopus, author in DVDLab Pro.
If you want all-in-one tools, look at Sony Vegas Movie Studio 4.
There are others, such as Sonic, Ulead etc., but they don't have the quality of Canopus/DVDLab combination.

    Are you using "mastering quality"?

    hi

i used to belive the procoder v2 was the dogs b*ll*cks but in testing alot of apps i found i just didnt like it all round.

i had .6 speed on a fast computer, quality wasnt as good as other good apps, but to be fair after trying a few settings i gave up they all didnt look pretty at the end?

if going the avi route i found that avi2dvd useing CCE is top notch

    divxtodvd is as good...

yes on the whole not impressed with it...
