    Hello.

You might want to uninstall Nero InCD. It can interfere with the burning process in some cases. Use the Nero InCD Clean Tool to remove it:

    http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/InCD_Clean_Tool.html

The Roxio CDRAL driver which is installed can also interfere. If you continue to experience problems, uninstall any Roxio software you have installed like Easy CD Creator and run the Roxio Zapper to remove the driver. You might also run the Nero Driver Clean Tool:

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
    http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/EE6000061

    http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/Driver_CleanTool_and_RegistryChecker.html

You might try updating your burner firmware. There's a newer version KKON here:

    http://www.liteonit.com/DOWNLOADS/ODD/SOSC-2483KX/firmware/CO24KK0N.zip

Moser Baer isn't the best media. Try a different bramd like Verbatim.

It appears you were using a CDRW. Have you tried a CDR?

Since you're burning a Nero image file, try using ImgBurn (free) instead:

    Thanks for your responses.
I think i understand where the problem is but not sure how to resolve it. The device in the drive is being detected as CD-RW even if it is a CD-R. So a CD-RW works but not CD-R.

Ladyboy - i tried all the steps you mentioned. Also tried with a few different disc brands, and with the imageburner software. The firmware mentioned in the link, was not detecting the drive correctly, ive contacted lite-on for assistance.

Meanwhile if you have any more idea's would like to try them out.

I don't have any more easy suggestions unfortunately.

Can you burn a CD with the WinXP built-in burner or with any of the music services burners?

The only other suggestion I have is pretty radical: backup your data, reformat your hard disk, and reinstall WinXP.
