better still, now you're burning again - have a look at the first bit of this (to do with KProbe) - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/193298. it might be worth checking out your new burns first, ie before messing about with firmware..
thanks for the help so far. I use FUJIFILM DVD-R I used about 75 of this brand disc and now all of a sudden started running across this error. I opened a brand new pack of this brand discs(50pack) and tried it again. Same error. Previosly to this i used Memorex. Never had any problems there. I did find a link to upgrade my Firmware. I did read all the warning about not being able to go back. Im worried because i bought this burner for around $300 when it first came out. I would hate to have to buy another one. Can you think if anything else i can do to try and resolve this or do i have to resort to my last option of trying to upgrade my firmware? "oh Bill Gates what ever happend to just plug and play?" at the end of the day, firmware is only really scary if you lose power during the process. $300 - OMG ! in UK we can get stuff like the NEC 3520/3530/3540 (can't keep up with their drives, it's like a weekly thing that they seem to update their drives), for like £35 plus postage, which is throwaway money for what you get. I bought my Sony for like £90, hat was steep.If i wear it out i'll prob get an NEC
Well it got the error again. i updated my firmware. I bought new media. I made all my settings to your guys's recommended settings. I did everything i possibly could. Do you think i should call or contact Pioneer(My burner) or Nero(my burning software)? or did i miss something that i still can do to trouble shoot? If was working perfect. i didnt mess with any of the settings why all of a sudden would it do this. UGH i have never been so frusterated.
Ok here is the latest error. After reading it over i do see that it says Unknown Disc. I also see it says DMA off. I do have it enabled. So why is it doing that? Im not all technical and stuff when it comes to nitty gritty of computers so im scared to uninstall drivers and stuff like that and reinstall them. But look at it and let me know what you think. I also would like to know how to test my DVD's to see if i just may have a 2 bad bunches. I looked through all the nero stuff and didnt see any test things. Im going to go check DVD shrink and DVD decrypter now.

Here is your problem. Quit using unknown cheap media period. If you continue to do this, and failed more than 6 times, Nero will kick your burner and driver back to PIO MODE instead of ULTRA DMA/DMA MODE. Please do all of us a favor and get a pack of 25 high quality media such as Fuji/TY, Verbatim, Maxell and SONY. Try to burn it again with the new highly recommended media, and if you still encounter any errors, come back and post your "error log." With that being said; hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to help you resolve this problem for you.

@smileddog - sorry to hear you're still having problems. Have been thru your latest log - - you need DMA set on that hard drive - i found an official Pioneer page this time, turns out that firmware 1.08 is old, it seems 16x writing is only supported in firmware rev 1.17 (i know you're only doing 4x but to me the firmware still needs to be up to date to properly support using 16x media; the newest version on that page is 1.50) - http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/product-e/ibs/device_e/dev00003r_e.html - doesn't seem right to have lots of these entries; must be a symptom of the overall problem - hmmm... Basically you need to get DMA set on your hard drive as detailed further up the post, and sort the firmware. Then do a simulation burn in Nero, not an actual burn, then post the logfile...
i am having the same problem with the errors in nero and i just baught the new pioneer dvr-109 tonight and im having serious problems and im really pissed off ... i also need help ... PLEASE thanks Nick
Nero log is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log. All burns good and bad, are appended to this logfile, so copy/paste the last section here (minus serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar). It's easy to differentiate the sections between burns in the log, just dig out the last section...
ok i went to the pioneer site, ive been there before. it says that i have the most updated firmware for my model. i have the DVR 106D. i already downloaded that and updated my firmware. So i dont think i can go any further updating that anymore. I still see that it says DMA off. i keep trying that link above and it doesnt work. When i go the the page it says URL Invalid or something along those lines. Is there anyway you can email me the intructions or post them on here. Thanks. I have a feeling thats the problem. when i go to check them it always says DMA IF AVAILABLE for both drives. Ultra DMA MODE. but then when i burn i get the error onthe log saying DMA off. im puzzled. see if you can get me those intructions to have Windowns enable them maybe that will work. Im seriosly about to throw this computer out the window and by another one.
