The INCD thing isn't going to be in control panel. It's a part of Nero. You have to uninstall Nero but you have to COMPLETELY uninstall it using Nero's clean tool, and then reinstall but this time choose to not install INCD ,when you are given teh choice during the installation process. Here's the link.

Thank you - that site is not working for me - the unavailable white screen comes up instead but I did uninstall. It will only be successful or complete if I use this site for cleanup?

    @sumuba -

    - can't find any info on what the latest firmware version is for this drive, it's a very new model, so there may be now NEW firmware out for it, but i've yet to confirm what the CURRENT firmware revision is..

    - that question mark is ok as it looks like the burner is external

    - wow, 256MB is not good, i recommend 512MB as a sufficient amount. Either way you've got virtually nothing left. With only 256MB to start with you'll have to try real hard to free up more of that memory by closing down as much as you can prior to all dvd work/burning

    - just checking, were you intending to burn multisession discs ?

    - hmmm, that is a little odd - did you only select a tiny amount of data for this burn ?

    - a-ha - the burner's firmware is either out of date, or the firmware's up to date and the media you're using is too new for the firmware to know what to do with (or both!). when the firmware's able to properly recognise media you'd get a 3line paragraph similar to this example
    - hmmmm...not sure about that..

Thank you for all the help. I will look again after work. It is only a 16 minute clip - but it should be 1000k I believe.

cool, that equates to 1MB :)

ps from my last reply i said "there may be now NEW firmware out for it" that should read "there may be no NEW firmware out for it"

Thank you - I have not had a chance to do anything about it yet today. I just saved another video clip more conventionally and I will try burning it. If that works then maybe it will help all of you that have been helping me to be able to narrow down my problem more. I am not much help since I don't even understand half of what you talk about. But I sure do appreciate the ideas and help.

I tried another video clip - that I right clicked on the site for accessing the clip and used "save target as" and saved it on my desktop. But that clip does not play either - it shows as "empty' when I use the "display" key on the remote for my dvd player.

Here is the history if it is any help - Thank you

Oh I have to retry "incd" removal. Last night the site was not available.

I forgot - would using a +dvd versus a - dvd to burn make any difference either?

hi, it's early so i've copied/pasted some replies....

    - With only 256MB to start with you'll have to try real hard to free up more of that memory by closing down as much as you can prior to all dvd work/burning

    - the burner's firmware is either out of date, or the firmware's up to date and the media you're using is too new for the firmware to know what to do with (or both!). when the firmware's able to properly recognise media you'd get a 3line paragraph similar to this example

i guess you're gonna have to try another disc or wait for newer firmware. but also, let's identify that rewritable disc...
download dvd identifier (free) - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm and 'identify' that disc and paste results here...

Thank you - I appreciate all the help. I don't really know where to start - too busy to look at it yesterday. I am about ready to call tech support at nero - but I can only find foreign numbers - is that all there is or am I really off and looking at the wrong site?

I will apply the suggestions - I just am worried about not being able to return the burner if I cannot use it at all - so I am frustrated enough to call support - it is not that I don't want to try the suggestions that i have been given at this site- I just see time going by and might be out a couple hundred dollars, so I worry that I might be faster calling than muddling my way thru it on my own. I wish I was more up to speed on this kind of thing and then the suggestions would click faster.

Thank you - any help is appreciated -

I have a new but completely related question. Would my Sony dvd burner play both dvd+ and dvd- recordings?

Not knowing what I am really talking about - it feels strange to be suggesting the problem. But my previous question was leading up to - since my dicsc play on my computer from my burner - could the problem be as simple as my Lasonic dvd player not accepting the burned dvd?

you've not provided the media info i requested....

..calling Nero won't make any difference at this point. we need to establish what media you're using, then figure out why your burner's firmware isn't supporting/recognising it. none of which Nero can help you with at this point..

...let's have the media info pls...

Thank you for all the help. I have not had a chance to really even do justice to the suggestions yet. I hope to this weekend. Too much to do and then too tired to think straight. But to update - I was only burning the site link as I was afraid. Now I am burning the download and have run into a message on my dvd player "codec not supported". Maybe I need to post somewhere else since it is not a nero problem technically. But I wanted to share the latest after your hard efforts to help me. Thank you again for all the help.

This may well be the case. My standalone dvd player will not read dvd+r and will only read dvd-r (it is an older model)so the burn may be successful and it may just that your dvd player is not capable of recognising the disc. The dvd burner in your computer however should be able to recognise both, so if that isn't recognising the burnt copy then it probably something else such as the discs that you are using.

Best thing to do is to use dvd Identifier if this is the case and post back the findings so the experts can help you out. Just follow their advice and they will get you up and burning, they have proved extremely helful to me on many occassions, and you tend to learn a lot on the way!!

If that is the case then you should booktype it to DVD ROM, which is the universal bookytpe and can be read by all players. I'm sure you burner has booktyping capabilities. But you have to have DVD+R to do it, DVD-R can't.

Are you using DVD shrink or what? if so then this is what you have to do.

Aftwe you've done the quick analysis and have chosen all the audio and subtitle streams you will get one last window prompting you to set any last prefereces. under the last tab you will see a box that will say something like "booktype to DVD ROM" tick it and then click ok. here is a picture of what it should look like. and I don't have you burner so I'm not 100% sure that it can booktype, you will have to search it. But it seems like a really new model so it probably can.

my burner is a lite-on and lite-ons use there own booktyping utility so that is why my box is greyed out.

and here is a guide to use shrink if you have never used it before.

    http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/tutorial012.html

and here is another for Shrink's prefences.

    http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/tutorial002.html

when you've gone through the guide and feel like thanking someone for it don't thank me, please direct all praise to fasfrank.
