    Hi all,

I've been using Nero 7 for a while now without any problem. However, lately I'm having trouble burning data CDs. When I burn a CD or DVD data disk, it stops 1:00 into the burn process.

I've searched the forum for solutions to my problem. I've checked DMA, disabled the CD recording, closed programs, burnt at much less than half capacity. I've wasted about 20 blanks discs already, so any ideas or help is very much appreciated.

Attached is the log, I'll be happy to provide any other requested information.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hi Z10!!!
Curiously I Have the same Nero (version 7), the same burner (Pioneer)and the same problem. When I instaled the program his function was good but after a while it begging to present error messages. BURN PROCESS FAILED AT 16X. As you can imagine I wasted severals CDs. Are you found any solution? Please, I appreciate your help. Since you have the same program and the same burner as I'm, I think that we can communicate. Thank,Julio

Julvy, I haven't found a fix yet unfortunately.

I'm cleaning up my hard-drive and will try again later. I'll keep you posted.

    Hi,

edit out your serial number at the top of your log before someone pirates it.

your firmware presently is not up to date click http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/article/0,,2076_4273_128163990,00.html use DVR-A06/106 and update to version 1.08

Your burner is in pio mode and needs to be in dma use this link as it has visual steps.
    http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/

You will have to remove your current version of nero using nero cleantool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html. Remember to include all remnants of nero using the tool, reboot and install the following:
Nero 7.0.2.3 is said to have some bugs goto http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/ and download to the right version 7.0.8.2 which is the last known bug-free version of nero 7.

This is nero incd packet writing software and doesn't play well with some systems also remove using nero cleantool and don't re-install when you load 7.0.8.2.

Try turning some of your processes off as you using too much ram while trying to burn

anything I missed there are many members here willing to assist you in correcting your issues so you can get up and burning.

    @juvly

See my comments above on the version of nero the original post referenced. Are you trying to burn cds or dvds? If you are burning dvds then slow your burn speed down to 4x.

    Matt,

I followed all your instructions. However it still stops 1:00 into the burn process (I think for a different reason). I've been fiddling around with the settings for the past two hours, checking and re-checking everything. I've checked DMA is turned off (The system settings says it's turned off, but the log says otherwise).

I chose not to install InCd, but it appears at the end of the log. I've also turned off as many system processes as possible (including explorer). I've wasted another 3 dvds in the process.

Here's the log. Again, your help is very much appreciated.

    Hi,

You installed incd or did not clear it via the cleantool before as the driver is still present in your log after you updated. Once again use the nero cleantool to uninstall only incd.

Refer to the previous link I posted in reference to turning on your dma or http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm and click the link under the FAQ question why is my drive running so slow now.

By chance how old is this drive as per your log here
    and
there is problems with nero recognizing your burner or incd is the varmint.

I would suggest uninstalling nero again via the cleantool ensuring that at the bottom right you mark the check all box...reboot as it tells you when the cleaning is done and reinstall nero 6.6.0.18 (do this after you try to fix your dma issue first).

I would get some blank dvdrw as not to waste dvds until your burn problems are solved.

Forgot to ask what brand of media are you using..mcc is usually top notch if verbatim. I would try a different brand of media (sony or fuji MIJ)or if available in your area taiyo yuden media. I am still leaning on the burner is the overall issue.

As Matt72 has directed get your DMA turned on for this drive, if you still have errors there is something going on with the drive, this is a hardware error. Check your cables and make sure the are seated correctly. Also, try another brand of media and see if this works out.

Matt, I've gone through your instructions.

I've unstalled and reinstalled Nero again, making sure to use InCd cleaner and relevant cleanup tools (Nero Cleaner, Registry Checker).

I've unstalled and reinstalled my IDE channels making sure DMA is turned on.

I've also checked cable and plug connections, and tried different media.

My CD burner is over 5 years old.

    Any other suggestions?

For some reason your burner is not recognizing your media, you are using good media but I would try another brand such as Verbatim or Sony (made in japan) and see how it goes.

    Hi z10
What other different media did you try besides the MCC id?
You can also try a burn speed of 2x since 4x is the max for this drive.
Another thing is yep it's an old burner and you DMA is still showing off.
My guess is it could be because the drive is heading south or the cable is bad like arniebear suggested.
So try picking up a new ide cable - 80 wire. If you end up getting a new drive (may be time too) you should get a new one anyhow.

    Hi,

Was involved with work issues but here is what I see

Seems there is an issue with the recorder. After trying different media as suggested and still burning errors I would consider checking online at newegg.com (use google to find it) and price a new burner.

Again I suggest a new burner might be the way to go as they run about 59 dollars these days.

By the way I looked up your current burner and it writes at only 4x. If you switched media to 8x or 16x recently try to change back to 4x media. If not the case then see my recommendations above.

z10: i noticed all through the logs provided that your dma is still turned off,...............Is it not possible to turn it on due to the age of the burner
