    Hello,

I've been following a few threads here lately regarding the dreaded illegal disc and tried to mimic some of the fixes, but i'm still hitting the brick wall.

My log is below. I just flashed my NEC 1300A with firmware update 1.03C. After the update, i'm still getting the illegal disc error. I've tried the following media:
    Imation dvd=r 16x
    maxwell dvd+r 16x
    memorex dvd-r 16x

With each one, I burn at max speed(4x). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 1300 is a very old burner and the burner firmware isn't going to be able to recognize a lot of 16X media, thus it's reverting to a generic burning strategy. It's possible the burner is just faulty but I'd try some 8X or even 4X media, maybe Verbatim or Sony, and see if that solves the problem. The media used in the log posted was actually manufactured by Moser Baer which isn't a very high quality supplier of DVD media. It's unlikely that either the Imation or Memorex media will be of very high quality. It's best to go with Verbatim or any Made in Japan labeled media if you can find it. If you continue to have problems, try burning your ISOs with ImgBurn (free).
