@DADEO1 I used DVD-R media for a long time before I got my recent two drives that do booktype. DVD-R is more compatible with older players and I have two players that will only play -R format. In order to booktype your drive must be capable of doing this, what drive do you have. If your drive does not do it, the continue on as you have, but if your drive is capable of doing booktyping then you have the best of both worlds. +R media is much better than -R and much more advanced and once you booktype your media to DVD-Rom you can play it on all standalones.
arniebear,I have a Pioneer DVR-106D,which came in my Sony PCV-RS420.I'm still not sure what "booktype" is? This Pioneer has been flawless for a couple years now,but the Dual Layer units look very inviting.I'm actually surprised how this computer has performed considering computer stupidity.
