I have a DVDRW IDE1008 drive and Nero 6.6.03 (XP Home w/SP2) Whenever I try to burn a DVD using DVDdecrypter and Recode, the encoding process goes fine, but when it comes time to burn, after 20 seconds, Nero ejects my DVD. It immediatly closes again, but after another 30 seconds it gets ejected again and the burn fails. I get a "recorder function not implemented" error. I've updated my firmware, but I'm still not 100% sure if this is a Nero or burner issue. I've noticed in NeroInfo Tool that DMA is off. I don't know what that is. Could that be the problem? I am using either of two programs with the DVDRW IDE 1008 dvd+-rw drive. It does not seem to make a difference which one I use. Record now will not make a data disc even if I use v. 7.00. Nero willnot burn without telling me that there is a problem towards the end of the burn. Sometimes there is a problem in the beginning. But then, it is only after I have made a coaster. I have contacted Sonic Record Now to try to resolve the problem but I am still trying to resolve it. Am I the only one having this problem. If not, maybe someone who has had this problem will have some answers. I even updated my ASPI drivers. That made it possible for my samsung CD R/W and DVD player drive to work properly. But my DVD burner is still giving me problems. I updated to WMA series 10 and installed the patch for series 10 from sonic. That also helped to get my cd r/w going. But my DVD burner is still causing me headaches. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I too am using XP (sp2). I am at wits end on this. Only half of my DVD burned from VOB files finishes. I have enough coasters to last the entire US army or so it would seem.
When you use the Decrypter you should be in file mode when Decrypting. Then open up Nero Recode and import the new movie file on your Hard Drive. It won't work in ISO. ISO is used if you want to also burn with the Decrypter.
You may want to try removing and reinstalling Nero. I'd probably try and do a burn using Shrink and Decrypter, just to try and isolate the problem. You might want to get a few DVD R/Ws until you get the problem sorted out so you're not making coasters. Nero is acting strangely if your disc is popping in and out. It is not reading the disc correctly so it is asking you for another! Possible media problem? You need to get your transfer mode set to DMA: Start> Rt Click My Computer> Hardware> Device Manager> Expand IDE/ATA ATAPI controllers> Double Click Secondary IDE Channel> Advanced Settings> Change the transfer modes to DMA for any device not showing DMA. If that does not work and your PC reverts back to PIO, go back in and delete the IDE channel. Reboot and Windows will reinstall the channel in DMA mode.
I've stopped using Nero and have been using Shrink with Decrypter- it's slower, but it has worked flawlessly. And with the same media. So it's not the media or my drive; it must be Nero. I've uninstalled/reinstalled several times to no avail. As for DMA, I have no Advanced Settings tab for IDE/ATA ATAPI controllers>Secondary IDE Channel. Why is that? I am the computer's Admin. I'll try deleting the channel and see if that works. Thanks for the help!

Nope, the tabs I have are: General//Driver//Details//Resources My USB controlers have an advanced tab with them, but that's it. I take it that this is not the norm.?
That DMA issue is something that needs fixed but I don't think that is going to correct your problem. Once that is done download and reinstall the first two Nero packages. What you want are the packages that have Burning ROM and Recode. At any rate, just skip the one that has InCD. You DMA may cause problems during the burn however you have not gotten that far yet. So ignore it for now or just go into device manager and find the Action menu up at the top. Highlight the secondary IDE channel and then choose uninstall from the Action menu. Then reboot your computer. Windows will reinstall the IDE channel. One more thing... There are still a bunch of Nero serial numbers in the log file. They start with 1a23 or 1a21. Merry Christmas, Frank
I uninstalled the secondary IDE channel as you suggested, and rebooted. It was recreated, but DMA is still off. I also uninstalled all of Nero with the clean tools and installed Package 1&2. I'll let you know if it works any better.
