When I play a movie in my DVD-Rom Drive (E), Showtime 3 works perfectly, but if I play it in my DVD Writer (D) it plays any
introduction etc. but instead of playing the movie itself, displays the error "Playback is impossible because CSS copy protection failed". The movies are all legitimate DVD's and not copies.
Windows Media Player 10 plays the movies in both drives ok.
Can anyone help with a possible cause? I would prefer to use my
    (D) drive because it is whisper quiet, whereas the (E) drive is
    much noisier.
    Thanks for any ideas.

    Hi.

It sounds like a bug with Showtime 3 since WMP doesn't have a problem. Are these the original disks or backups? I'm assuming the originals. Is AnyDVD or any other region killer/CSS decrypter running in the background? If not, try running one. If so, try disabling during playback.

Laddyboy: thanks for reply. Since my first post, I have tried using
PowerDVD to play DVD's and have no problems on either drive. In
fact the quality of this outshines Showtime3 even when the
latter does work! So I'll use PowerDVD and uninstall Showtime3
from the Nero Reloaded 7 suite.
    Thanks again - Mike

I agree, PowerDVD is better than Showtime. It's all I use. I do have WinDVD that I use on another system, but still prefer PowerDVD,
