    Greetings all,

Ok, here is the sad story…
In the tread I started (please, see http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/573683 )
I was wondering what was that update for 7.10.1.0. ?
I interrupted auto-update because of slow download.

Next day I tried to append some data to Verbatim CDs I used many times (photos archives & stuff).
As soon as Create Data CD was chosen the computer froze – no keyboard/no mouse. Only Reset helps. It was replicable. The only difference was that sometimes (3 of ~9) attempts Nero could read Disks but then would choke at the beginning of writing.
Suspecting that canceled download broke something I went through AutoUpdate again. Silly me!
This time v7.10.1.2 was "successfully" installed (forget about all media associations were hijacked again!). But the worth thing – I could not write Multisession CDs.
Several Clean reinstalls (using Nero’s Tool) of 7.10.1.0 was performed to no avail.
    Nero burning capability – gone!
    Any suggestions, Guys?
And why in Hell there is no v7.10.1.2 to download from Nero?

Anyway, I can blame only myself.
Can I remember that AutoUpdate never worked properly? No!

    Thanks in advance for ideas.
    My regards

    P.S.
Just before posting I downloaded CDBurnerXP 4.0.015.277 and tested with the same CDs.
    1- Working s m o o th!
2- Only 5.71MB of Software. Have to test all aspects but first impression – very good, if not more.
    Thanks

    Hi blivetNC,
Yes 7.10.1.0 that's what I had and that's what is out there, as you pointed.
and that's what I reinstalled back but with the described bad result.
the 7.10.1.2 came when "Check for Updates" button was pressed and it broke everything here.
So, I am not sure why you are asking where I found 7.10.1.0?
    Cheers

    Hi blivetNC,

    It's Ok :)

I believe that I am not special enough, so it was just me who may check the "Auto"-Update and receive it...
but I would Not advise to do that after what happened here.
In addition I couldn't find any change log of the updates' content.
Another thing I remember that you will get a desktop icon "UpGrade to Nero 8".
Yes! Like ... I will do that immediately :) ... because neither 7.10.1.2 nor 7.10.1.0 are able to burn anymore ... Sigh!
    Cheers
    P.S.
I did try some other functions of mentioned and working CDBurnerXP -
    - Very Good indeed!
    my regards

Save your money, Nero 8 is not any greater than Nero 7, and you'll have the same problems. Post your Nero Burn Log and we'll see what is up.

    blivetNC,

    Thanks for reply.
I thought that I expressed the irony, rather sarcasm mentioning #8 in context with "buying". Probably, it is my English made it unclear ... but sure: I am not going to Upgrade. No.
I do appreciate your invitation to post log-file. I am not sure if it was created when freezing occurred. I will do the experiment later... have some urgent things to do now "without pressing Reset" and subsequent invitation to disk-check :)
Would it be NeroHistory.log one that usually located in
    C:\Documents and Settings\...\Application Data\Ahead\Nero Burning ROM ?
    My regards
