    Nero is a little outdated, current version is 7.0.8.2 and can be found here: http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php

    I haven't seen anything that would indicate that it is a buggy update, but any please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and supply the correct link.

    You firmware is several revision behind, current version is BSOY and can be found here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces

    Normally, I would tell you that you are burning too close to the edge of the disc, but I see you are using the same media that I do (Maxell) and this is what I have my target size set too, and know that you can get successful burns this close to the edge of the disc.

    This message generally means that your burner doesn't like your media and you should try another brand, however I feel that once firmware is updated, this error will dissappear. Just for information, I can get a successful burn with my NEC drive at 12X with those Maxell discs, but generally only burn at 6-8X due for quality reasons.

    Two things wrong here:

    1. Roxio is installed on your machine and should be removed, it is known to cause conflicts with Nero and other burning apps.

    2. InCD is also a problem causer...you will need to get rid of both.

    Here is a Roxio clean tool: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

    Here is the Nero clean tool: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Nero-Clean-Tool-Bundle.shtml

    The clean tool will need to run for both apps because a simple Add/Remove programs procedure will still leave bits and pieces in your registry. Be sure to save all your serial keys and software discs before the cleaning in case you have a need for them in the future.

    Is there a tutorial for updating your firmware?

    Also, the nero clean tool doesn't display inCD for removal.

    @eparker89
    Here's an somewhat tutorial on firmware:
    *download the file
    *make sure no programs are running and no disc in the drive(s)
    *keep power on
    *extract and open the .exe
    *will sometimes ask to pick drive - choice the drive updating
    *click okay,start, go something to that effect
    *drive is now being flashed - should take no more than a minute
    *once done reboot and new firmware should be there

    For InCD you'll need to uninstall that also from add/remove programs then run the clean tool for it. Here's a link:
    http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html

    @lifeguy
    Have you made any progress?

    So far all I've done is remove roxio. I'll update the firmware and remove incd later. I tried to burn the same dvd again and this time it worked. Below is the log, if you have any ideas for the inconsistency I am getting please let me know.

    I wouldn't try another burn until you've updated your firmware...

    Locoeng is right. You should update your firmware on the drive. Firmware updates are the drive manufacturers instructions for burning new and formerly unlisted media, and new stratigies for older media. Sometimes firmware updates increases the capabilities of a drive, like making it able to burn at a faster speed, or to burn a DL disc. You might have gotten lucky with the last burn. Also INCD can be just as bad as Roxio when you have Nero installed. You should get rid of it with the cleantool links provided.
    I have the same 1633S lite-on, and the firmware updates work fine. Read, but dont worry too much about the dangers of updating firmware. If you do it correctly, nothing bad will happen. Done incorrectly, it can damage or destroy the drive. Lots of ppl have updated firmware, and it has to be done if you want the best chance of getting a good burn with various media.
