Hi everyone, I have tried searching threads to find an answer to my problem but was unable to find anything. My nero will no longer read my DVD-R media. I have burned hundreds of movies, and all of a sudden it stopped working. I uninstalled nero, and used the cleantools. I then re-installed it and it still won't work like it did before. Can anyone offer me any advice? Try a firmware update to A306, available from this link http://www2.melcoinc.co.jp/pub/hd/dvsmd5816_fwa306.exe
also take out INCD! It's known to have issues with DVD writing! Use the clean tool again and this time when installing do not install INCD! then try it out. did you turn it off or was this Nero doing this automatically? I wouldn't use disk-at-once burning cause if something goes wrong it produces coasters.
I did the update but unfortunately it didn't help, my nero is still all buggy. I reinstalled without INCD... still not working. I think I may have quit the session after it wouldn't read my disks, so maybe that's where the "aborted by user comes in. I tried to find where to turn off Disc-At-Once, but I didn't know where to find it. Another thing... nero is running SOOOOO slow! It took me about 8 minutes just to get through to the error that the disk was the wrong media. Thanks so much IHoe and Gwendolin for trying to help me out, I really appreciate it. Any more suggestions?
This version of Nero contains some bugs, I would suggest you uninstall it, run this clean tool to remove all traces http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html and then install this slightly older bug free version fromeither of these links http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe
Just checked that out, hell I hate it when they do that...the version they are offering is buggy...6.6.0.18 was great...will have to search for another link to it, sorry.
Okay, I found another link here http://www.listsoft.com/programs/1983/?fileid=3 I'll let you know how it works out.
My pleasure I am still having problems. Nero took forever to get to the burning stage, and then it said it couldn't burn DVD-R's (which I've burned hundreds of previously). So for the heck of it I threw in a DVD+RW and the bugger started to burn! Grrr! Any idea how to make my burner work with DVD-R's and to speed it up?
sounds like a firmware problem that won't recognize your disks. What worked before isn't working now?! that's very weird. Did you install other types of burning programs?
Nope, no other burning programs. Nero's the only one. I don't have any idea how this happened. One day all of a sudden, BOOM! No more easy nero for me.
I don't see anything wrong either..... but there is some good news: http://k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php set you drive to booktype the +R disks to DVD-ROM! read all about it. +R media is better than the -R media! I know it doesn't make your day that your -R media is not recognizeable anymore, but at least Nero is recognizing your +Rs and will work with them. I wish we could have done more for you and your drive but we are stumped, too! I hope that maybe someone else sees this thread and knows more than we do....... I'll ask Creaky to take a look at this... he's my mentor!! He's the Nero Nator!!!
LOL they found me looks like Gwen and IHoe sorted everything out that can be sorted.. All i can see left is maybe the drive is faulty, however maybe there's something about those particular -R discs ? (haven't fully read the thread, am just getting kids ready to go out while we have a rare bit of decent weather). However i have my handheld with me so can keep tabs on posts & replies. Try dvd identifier - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm and run one or more of those -R discs thru it's identify thingy and paste the results here..
thank you Creaky for responding so fast! Here in sunny Florida it's 72 degrees here at 8:30ish AM! should go up to the mid 80's today!
