networking xbox

    ive just hooked up mycat5 cable to mp pc and set up all the ip address and stuff , but still no go just wont connect.In evoX dash says line status ..No link

    is there a differents between a patch lead and a crossover cable please help

    There certinaly is, cross over is the one you will need.

    Cross over cables provide a cross-over (switching of two wires within the cat-5 cable) for you when you connect computer to computer. This tells the comptuers that there is a connection and they should try to talk.

    Normal cat-5 cable will not be crossed over because the router/switch/hub/repeater whatever you plug into will provide the cross for you.

    the crossover cable has 4 wires switched. Look at both ends and the orange pair and the green pair should be reversed. I've also just replied to a thread in the general forum giving a step by step guide to connecting pc to xbox.
