    This baby rocks.

    First, the link:

    http://usa.asus.com/products/optical/cd-s520/overview.htm

I decided to make the virgin run of this newly purchased drive via "Command & Conquer Generals" (SafeDisc 2.8)

This thing "flew" threw the bad sectors. I was ecstatic.

Cheap price, and the drive is an unbelievable monster. I recommend this beauty to anyone who is looking for a new CD-ROM.

    Take it easy all.

I'll go a step further and highly recommend the LiteOn LTD 166 DVD-ROM. This drive is one of the fastest dvd rippers(11-12x), fast dae(22-23x) and superior dae accuracy. Drive plays backups of Safedisc 2.9& SecuROM 4.8.x (install disc). I found 1 at Wall-Mart for 48.99

I have recently seen a STAGGAERING performance DROP with my precious ASUS however I must agree it is an incredibly CHEAP drive (~50 CAD). All in all I must say it is an excellent drive (perhaps giving the most bang for buck -- but dont quote me on that ;-p )

I'll put my Memorex 52MAXX right beside your Asus 52x. Both drives can easily backup Safedisc 2.9& SecuROM 4.8.x. My audio dae (according to Nero CD Spoeed) is roughly 37-38x, superior dae accuracy and supports Mt. Rainier. My Memorex 52MAXX is confirmed to be a "rebagged" LiteOn. I bought this drive for 50 buckaroos (USA)

    @ Praetor,
I made a thread for Rotary& you specifically..

    Praetor,
Got your email and I appreciate the test you're doing with your Asus 52x drive. No big hurry for the Safedisc 2.x test. If you can, use Alcohol 120% and just send the log file will be just fine m8.
