See, you 2 do work well together..lol! I am still having issues though. I found where to change the letter without a problem. When I 'disable' the drive, all seems well. It didappears from 'My Computer' and all other directories. And I insert a disk(blank, or whatever) then try burning something and it would fail(Nero). Then if I went back to 'My Computer' it will show the drive still there(empty though), but when I double click it says it's not accessible insted of asking to insert disk. I am so lost it makes no sense I know. I was just now able to copy a audio CD without a problem using Nero express feature.

Ah ha, you may be on to something. The new DVD drive I bought did come with a new IDE cable, I however I didn't use it, didn't think is was nessesary.

Anyway I have so much going on right now, and I am on my way out the door for my New years celebration. So have a safe one....both of you, and I'll dismantle my PC tomorrow and give er a whirl

that is the hard way to reset bios to default settings, theres usualy a jumper to do it but an easier way is to unplug ur pc and remove the internal battery for a couple minutes.

but i dont know if this would change anything in windows now that i think about it, hopefully these guys that know what there doing can explain why it would or would not help, but i dont see any harm in trying it...just be sure to wear latex gloves or hold on the the case frame to keep urself grounded so you dont short anything out with static .
