I'm installing a new Maxtor 160GB drive on my Dell. It has an 80GB drive with software corruption and it's missing the Sys32 files. Don't ask! I want to use it as a primary slave and transfer all of the music and pics and some files from it to the new drive as a primary master on an Ultra ATA IDE cable. I have all the necessary software to install on the new drive so it will remain clean. The old drive will remain unbootable for now. I will later wipe it clean and install it in another pc. Can't I do this without corrupting the new drive? The files weren't corrupted just the software and subsequently the OS.
