no, the cpu wont physically fit into the mobo. it has a different socket. so it looks like the best you can get is a 2.2ghz pentium 4.
My PC has slowed down over the years, i been reading if you clean your hard drive it can improve performance. Can any1 talk me through how I can do this with buying expensive software to do it?
Ok lets say i get the 2.2 ghz but the cod 4 minimum cpu is 2.4 ghz can i somehow compensate the 0.2 ghz like adding a better ram or video card?? edit:Wait a sec if i install on my mob 2.2 ghz cpu can i overcloack it??
Yes you probably could overclock it, but it depends on you motherboard and Bios, and you need to know what you are doing. Also i would bet that the RAM you have is is like PC-133 or DDR400 at the fastest, because you have a P4 Machine. There is noway that COD4 will ever run on your PC. When they talk about minimun requirments they are not exactly being truthful, they say you need like 1GB RAM, but they dont say what type, what speed etc. And PC-133 or DDR400 will not run that game for shnizzle
I have a PC2100 266mhz ram!Now i need to know a cpu that is compatible with my mob and can be overcloacked.(My mob can handle up to 2.2 ghz cpu).
WOW PC-2100 lol 266Mhz still wont run top games, and as for the CPU we won't really know what CPU is compatible because we need to know the make and model of mothercoard you have
My point still stands. IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN As well as the minimum specs, that's really what you need for the game to work at all, for it to look remotely good, run remotely smoothly and be the least bit enjoyable, you really need to surpass the minimum specs.
you cannot overclock your cpu without getting a new motherboard. oem machines like dell's and hp's wont let you oc. you are stuck with 2.2ghz at the most.

well you need one that will support P4 and dual core (if you want to upgrade) also tell use what graphics card type you have i.e. AGP or PCI-E. Also i doubt you will find a motherboard that supports dual core and PC-2100 RAM.
It's unlikely - you will probably need new RAM too. Additionally if you're building this for games, you will also need a new graphics card, and probably a new power supply as well.
It is and it isn't. It's far easier to get a new PC than upgrade the one you have now, but you won't get a good gaming PC off the shelf from HP, Dell or whatever. You either have to get one that was built for gaming, one that's built to your own spec, or build one yourself.
