i was able to burn a movie successfully about a week ago using the same process i am now trying. basically the nero process is about 3 seconds before the error. thanks for any help in advance. i have updated my firmware and nero software. dma is enabled, and from what i can see the disc is recognized. here is the log.
Hi, A few suggestions I have: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html Run the clean tool to completely remove your current version of nero, reboot and use the links below to get the known stable version of nero. Below is the last stable version of nero 6 you should install. Write down your serial number before using the cleantool. Nero version 6.6.0.18 updates: Package 1 http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2 http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe CMC media is known to be some of the worst blank media. I suggest using verbatims, taiyo yudens or sony (sony label should say made in Japan). http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1517 new firmware update for your burner You are burning too close to the edge of your blank discs suggest you set the target output to be 4300mb. Do not use any other applications while trying to burn. You have Roxio installed, it clashes with Nero, to remove, run this zapper http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
thanks for the help. i have done everything except change media. i'll go buy some verbatim as soon as possible. here is the log after all recommended updates. still a little fuzzy on which firmware to update, but i made the best guess possible.
Hi, http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1517 Use the 1.0C firmware update. As you have stated until you change your CMC media (for the most part is horrible) other than what I stated above should get you up and burning. Once you get the verbatims, update the firmware to version 1.0C then post back and let us know how you getting along.
bought some sony discs and it worked like a charm. thanks!! so does this mean that the 25pk of discs are coasters or do i need to use them for data back up and/or smaller movie burns? it just sucks that the ones i bought won't work.
UPDATE: I have burned my 10 pack of sony dvd-r(s) with NO problem whatsoever...thanks to the posters that assisted the first go around. NOW, i went and bought a 25 pack of the same dvd-r (sony brand). the only difference that i am aware or is the 10 pack was in individual jewel cases and the new 25 pack is on a spindle. i know that should not have any impact, but it is the most obvious observation. using the new dvd-r(s), this is the error log i'm getting. can someone please translate my new problem? THANKS.
Had a peek at the last log and see the memory usage at 87%....way too high. You should get more memory. Also the speed is at 2.4X. The only time I ever see this number is before I insert my disc into the burner. If the burner was recognizing the disc I think you should have to reset the speed to 4 or 8 depending on your preference....mine always shows maximun at startup and I have to drop it to 4X. I don't think it gives you the option to burn at 2.4X.....or at least mine doesn't. Just check the burning speed when you insert your disc and see what it shows.
tried killing all apps before burning. got memory usage to 60%, and the disc appeared to get further along in the burn process before giving me an error message. the only speed i can see from the pulldown bar is 2.4x, the other options are 2x and 1x. the discs read 1x-16x compatible. something i just noticed is that the other sony dvd-r discs were 1x-4x compatible. does that make a difference to two otherwise identical looking discs? here is the latest log
Hi MSbulldog Yes that difference in rated speed will make a diff for your drive. Even though you have the latest firmware it's an older drive with the last support on it over 2 years ago so 16x media will probably give it a problem. More than likely the reason for your Illegal disc error. For this drive stick with 8x or lower if you can find it. May not be a bad idea to pick up a new drive too - newer ones support all the 'newer' media like 16x. Good ones now a days are pretty cheap. Oh and edit your serial # - top of log begins w/ 1A.
