New to HD TV have a questions for anyone who can help.

    I recently bought the LG 42" 42lbsd tv and i was wondering why if im watching tv that the show does not take up the full 42". Can anyone help me? I do not know why it does this.

    If it looks like this:

    That's because the video is in the 16:9 format. There's nothing wrong with your tv.

    If it looks like this:

    [​IMG]

    That's because the video is in the 4:3 format. Nothing is wrong with your tv.

    yeah thats what i figured but is there anyway for it to take up the whole screen if it is 4:3? I think on one dvd it said it was 16:9 and it still didnt take up the whole screen. Thanks for the help though too.

    Yea, on your tv there's probably a setting to change the aspect ratio but, I wouldn't recommend doing that because you will just end up with a crappy image.

    I never asked this but, what exactly are you watching? Is it a movie? Are all the channels like that?
