There have been a flood of new posts asking what all the terms are in this forum. Well, here's quick list of terms, that are originally from Howard Forums at http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=532320:

P2KMananger, P2Kman - This is a program used to access the file system. Sometimes referred to as only P2K. Available from http://anton.tbg.ru/files/p2kman.zip

P2Ktools - A GUI for basic phone editing functions, including Seem Editing and others. Available at http://161.184.158.71:6996/mossyy/

MSS, Victor, VictorGSM - Generally refers to Motorola Service Software, a 3rd party program used to unlock most phones, as well as do other things like flash your phone and such. (Go to http://www.motomodders.net) then register (it wont take 2 mins) and then go to Downloads and u will find it there.

MobileEdit - According to their website, mobileedit is "a unique modular program which allows you to control your mobile phone from the PC via Bluetooth, infrared or cable. You can easily copy photos from your phone or upload your favorite ringtones, logos, MP3's and transfer documents too. You can dial, send SMS's, receive calls, organize contacts, play games and much more. MOBILedit! is designed as an operating system, you can enhance its functionality by adding new plug-in applications and drivers." Available for free from www.mobiledit.com

PST - Motorola's PST is a program used in service centers across the country and world for basic repair and upgrading of motorola phones. Features include flashing/flexing phones, changing NAM settings, etc. Not available for legal download to the public, only available in Motorola Service Centers. But here we go :D http://www.free.cz/motorola/PST_6.7_GENERAL.zip
    and thats the patch
    http://www.free.cz/motorola/PST_6.7_Patch.zip

MPT, Motorola Phone Tools, Mobile Phone Tools - The standard program for putting and copying from the phone, mp3's, midi's, wallpapers, phonebook editing, as well as accessing your providers dial-up network for "wireless" internet. http://www.free.cz/motorola/Motorola_MobilePhoneTools_1.23c_EN.zip

Motorola Tool - A GUI for seem editing. Functions include removing provider tags, menu changing, etc. Will NOT work with all phones, tested mostly on the Triplet's phones. http://coma.fsb.hr/motorola/files/motorola-tool.zip

Midway, Java Games - Midway allows the transfer of Java games onto a phone. The Java-app loader MUST be activated on the phone first, however. This program is available at:
    http://coma.fsb.hr/motorola/files/MIDway_2.8.rar

Seem Editing, Seem - This refers to the basic control function of a Flex on a phone. Seems control what features are activated and are deactivated. XLR8 has put together a seem map and a good guide to basic seem editing at http://xlr8.us/hofo/

Flash - This is the basic software the phone needs to control it's hardware. Generally, when you update a flash, you will not update the flex. Things that may improve by updating a flash file would be all hardware based, like camera quality, reception strength, etc. A flash can be a .shx or a .vf1. SHX's are PST files, and VF1's are for MSS

Flex - The flex on a motorola phone contains all the files you can access via p2k manager and all the seems. Updating a flex will allow you to access new features (as will seem editing) gain new ringtones, get new wallpapers, remove company branding, etc. There are very few provider-branded flexes available though, so if your worried about this, it's a good idea to back up all the seems and files so you can revert back if you need to.

Triplets, VXXX - Refers to the Triplets line of phones, meaning the phones that run off the triplets firmware. V300, V400, V500, V600 and their variations. New phones like the V551, V620 and the likes do NOT run off the triplets platform, but are sometimes tossed in the "vxxx" family for their similarities in flexes.

Drivers - Each program usually comes with the drivers needed. MPT Comes with it's own drivers as does PST. P2Kman uses PST's drivers.

Hello, i have tried every site on this post - i know more now (thanks) - my problem is when the tools application is trying to find my phone (V180) it never stops. The clock just keeps on ticking. Maby a special file to progress the v180 into notation. Thanks

well what do ya know! Tada! I have only one small problem. I think my phone is so new that it does not have its make in the phone tools. I loaded the V60 and it is recognized but no loading when it comes to ring tones or wallpapers. I should be able to drag the ringtone into the phone tool application - no? Im almost there. I really do thank you guys for the information.
