Agreed. I would recommend a linux box, it is not just sellers but programmers on other sites saying best stick with a linux box, it is more likely to be upgradeable. Just IMO the itgate is the best bet now, with component out, HD support, 2 year warranty and reasonable price. The itgate comes with all cams & stuff you need etc, ready to scan and decode. i.e. you do not need to connect to a PC at all. But when the nagra2 rollout comes it will need an update, and I presume the other boxes you mention will too, if they or the itgate can handle it that is. Nagara 2 is already out in the EU, I am not sure what boxes are running in these countries. Also the nagra2 has different versions, so might be different to the ones already hacked in those countries.
I agree Ruprect, its hard to answer a blanket question on N2 as you state, there is different version etc, I think it will be wait and see for the time being..............
i have recently got - u p c (ch0rus) digital in the mu11ingar area. also got digiv0x-t, loaded the recommended bin file that came with the box. nothing, will not pick up any channels!! so if any one can help, sugggestions would be gratefully accepted! otherwise anyone interested in a fresh out of the box digiv0x-t at a reasonable price
Do you have one of their boxes? Do you have a mesh type aerial on your roof? Easy thing would be to check your bill or ring them and ask what type of service you have at the moment.
Could be a communal feed, but sounds more like standard DVB C as you don't have a power insertor, (small black box behind your TV, but you would need a sub to have one in the first place). Can you check a neighbors subbed box, or as said ring your provider.
after making enquiries earlier this year, they advised it is an mmds service, most neighboura are on sky sat dishes. this may be stupid question, but can the -T box be converted to -C by software download?
Apologies but could you please edit out the CC emails as it not really good to have that sort of info here. You can edit by clicking to the top right of that particular post. Regards a software/firmware to change from T to C, no its not possible. Its actually the tuner types of each particular box. Regards your set up and having verified its Ch**us MMDS. You would still need the correct MMDS kit, that is usually supplied by the CC, (you can also get this kit elsewhere). Unless it was a communal feed from a local transmitter this then would mitigate the kit. But as said even the info you have been given by the CC still doesn't mention if it communal or via an aerial.
what is the correct mmds kit? i thought i could just plug in this type of box, tune it and away i go!!! obviously not!! the cc set top b, is in one room & i wanted to use the spurious one in another room. so is there anyone who would like to exchange this box for the -C type?
the rumour mill is indeed starting to start up again, what i have heard is that U*C have spent a "a huge amount of money" in somthing that is about to be launched/rolled out in November.... This could indeed be a new Box with Nagra2, if it is a new box it will work with the Old nagra 1 system until ALL other boxes are replaced, which would take some amount of time, and i think that most people will hear of it at the same time... U*P will and have to do something about the currant situation....they have already spent a lot of money on the new PVR that they have lauched which i havnt heard is Nagra 2.. rump 50
there seems to be an awful lot of talk bout nagra1 being turned off shortly, they know which version they are using its rom 110 rev A05 and it at present has not been hacked but im pretty sure there is people working on it already and they will need a working keyset however, and yes they will be turning off an area at a time so it will a while before its all turned off, they all said still with the linux boxes but all the linux boxes failed when they changed the keyroll method the last time it was the likes of box super and the box-t and eurovox tx that rolled so in my opinion i think that linux is the best bet for the new emu but i wouldnt rule out the latest batches of boxes if they get a new firmware, and all upc need to do is send out new cards to the majority of people for the changeover to nagra 2
This subject has come up countless times before. Nobody knows what will happen, or when it will happen. Equally nobody knows whether the boxes will work with new firmware after nagra2 is rolled out, or not. So i wouldn't worry about it for now. It's a bit pointless.
sc0ucer, model dc62auk silver new pace box - what does this tell you about the type of signal being piped in??
