My old modem packed up a couple of days ago so virmin sent me a modem router to replace it. If I still connect through my old netgear wifi router after disabling DHCP will that still hide my KV ?

I thought I had to have a router between the modem & kv so that virmin can't tell I am using one. So now that they supply me wth router/modem combo I thought I should still need to put my netgear in the line. Am I right or wrong? Is it ok to have direct cable from VM router to kv?
