    So, I just got a new laptop with a DVD burner and would like to find out how to burn properly. The DVD I'm looking to burn is just over 7gb in size so.....

    I have Nero for burning..and also DVD Shrink and AnyDVD (but not sure how to use them.)

    Can someone please provide a link for me so I can burn some of my DVDs with that software? Thanks.

    Go to the guide section of the website, look around a little and you will find your answers. I could tell you how right now but,,,,,, It's better if you finger it out for yourself. Thee guide will lay it out black and white for you, plus alot of other good info there.

    Thanks...but I just tried following the guide "Copy entire DVD-9 movie to a single DVD-R using DVD Shrink" and it stopped ripping it at just over 40%. Some error came up and i cancelled it. Any idea?

    I've tried following both guides,and I keep getting the same error message with DVD Shrink. At 41% complete, an error message pops up stating, "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

    P.S..the DVD i'm trying to burn is Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

    Please help...thanks.

    I know you say you have AnyDVD, but do you have it running? Make sure you have the latest version and Mr. and Mrs Smith shouldn't be a problem.

    I think that it will depend on what the actual error reads. Please let us know what the error reads. It may be that you have a bad disc. This happens alot I hate to say. Even out of the box. There may be a scratch naked to the eye that is causeing the problem. Sorry if I sounded rude about the "Read the Guide" bit, but most ppl want stuff handed to them. Try cleaning the disc, also whaat movie is it. If it is a sony disc it will be a pain in the rear. Let us know.

    @sheempa

    Your nero is out of date...current version is 6.6.0.18

    The current version of your firmware is BYX5 for the sony and 1m31 for your Toshiba.

    DMA should be on.

    Do you have Roxio installed? If so get rid of it, as it causes conflicts.

    A more complete log could yeild more solutions to your problems, but this will probably get you going again.
