just by going what info I have here try right clicking when the movie is playing (on the image) and you should come up with some type of menu, select audio and pick an audio format that it gives you, maybe ac3.2 or 5.1 or sommthing

post back and give an update

Dunno about your DVDs guys, but mine all have AC3 sound.
This is not a surround sound standard per se; it is a compressed audio standard.
There is stereo AC3, and there is 6-channel AC3.
You will hear neither unless you install AC3Filter.
I don't think you need to troubleshoot your soundcard, but be my guest :)
Nu330ci have you, or have you not, installed the AC3Filter?

But the default gain is low; it's much quieter than a comparable AVI file with MP3 audio, during playback.
Actually, some of my AVIs have LAME audio and some have AC3, so you can really tell the difference.
There is a preset that they call 'loud', as I mentioned, in the AC3Filter configuration (right on the first tab) that will boost the gain and make it normal...
So there you go Mark, look at that - you're an Advanced AC3Filter user already! :)
    Regards
