    IMEI: 357937004286177
    Country: Australia
Provider: Optus (also used on Telstra)
    Firmware: V04.50 19/12/05 RM30

This is a weird one. The phone only locks with a "phone restricted" (enter restriction code) after it has been sitting idle for several hours. If I then reboot the phone, it works okay again for another few hours. If I put the same SIM card in another working phone, the same thing happens after several hours.

Optus issued a new SIM with the same number.. same problem. Changed unit with a brand new phone (same phone number), same problem. Used a different Optus SIM/phone number, NO problem. Unfortunately I need to keep this phone number in service. Anyone seen this before?

So you have to put in the unlock code everytime it does this?

I don't actually have the unlock code, normally I just restart the phone and I can continue using it for a few hours.

That's odd. Try this code if the phone was originally on optus
    #pw+299005710772417+2#

That code doesn't appear to work (note I didn't restart the phone). The phones were originally used on Telstra, but to my knowledge, they were never actually locked to that network. The phone worked fine on Optus for the previous 6 months.

You got me on this one. Never heard of a problem like that with more than one phone.

Yeah, everyone is scratching their head on this one. I "suspect" this may have something to do with the fact that the phone number was orignally ported from Telstra... although I've done dozens of these and haven't seen any problems for months until now. Thanks for your help.
