Check the cable incase the centre is broken and not passing the signal and check the inner part of the tuner on the back of your DBox and look to see if the metal centre connection isn't prised apart too much causing loss of signal also. You can fix the former by putting a new F plug on the cable and the latter by using a pin to narrow the gap on the tuner connection to ensure it grips the cable when you screw it on. Hope this helps, as it used to happen a lot on satellite receivers when I used to repair them.

If the tuner is broken you can get a new one here:

Fekker - thanks for the info, that worked a treat.

The bad news now is that I've downloaded a duff image and have "kein system"...something I've noticed other people have come across in this forum. Has anybody got any notes / documentation on how I recover from this sorry state?

You should be able to recover using IFA
    · Turn off DBOX
    · Start Application
    · Choose Drive where you have the Image you want to flash
    · Choose the right network Card where the DBOX is connected to
    · Choose if you have a nullmodem Cable and what Com Port
    · Click Start
    · On Windows XP SP2 you now need to click unblock on the Firewall Popup
    · PLEASE IGNORE ANY MINIMIZED WINDOWS AND ESPECIALLY
    "pinging failed" !!!!!
    · Power your Box up and the Software does the Rest
    · Display will say Flashing whilst Software is transfered and then Flashing
Done after about 2 1/2 Minutes or about 10 minutes on a Sagem 1x Dbox.

Sometimes the display will still say FLASHING, sometimes you will see 2 bars moving across the screen. Don't worry if it doesn't tell you it's finished, after 5 minutes unplug and reboot. Also I'm sure the Commando 6 image you are using is a 2X image and not a 1X image ;-).

Fekker - you're full of good advice, much appreciated.

Got half way through using IFA nd got the following message (wasn't using a null modem cable).

"The UDP-Port 67 and 68 is alrady in use by internetconnection sharing (synchost.exe) To continue you must disable etc....."

Any idea what I have to do...is it the DBOX I must disconnect from TV or anything...from looking on the net it sounds like a LINUX message?

I've had this message before, too. Unplug the Dbox2 from the mains and plug it back in again. If this fails, restart the PC.

Make sure you have disabled all network cards except the one connected to the DBox, disconnect any other peripherals like XBox so not to confuse the IFA programme. Reboot PC and it should work.

UDP 68 and 69 and used by DHCP - are you running ICS on your computer, if you are then disable it - as I suspect this is the problem.

I had the same error last week and I am not using ICS so I think IFA uses this error when it cannot access the network card. DHCP at this stage shouldn't stop IFA flashing the box. You might also like to try the advice below from Fergalsworld.

Go to Network Settings, right click on a network connection, click advanced tab, uncheck "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's network connection". Click "OK". Do the same with each connection in turn. Reboot PC to unload any resident drivers and try again.

    Hi All
Have just bought a nokia dbox2 and attached to my cable. All is fine and have scanned the cable. I now have 260+ bouquets. This makes it a bit hard to find channels. Can I just delete most of these bouquets with the browser and keep say 5 and make these contain my most watched channels? I don't want to remove them and find I have also lost the channels!

Secondly, I want to add a hard drive to allow recording locally. Is there a size limit above which the xbox will not be able to see? I remember disk size issues with some PCs a few years ago due to address bus size limitation. Also, what jumper setting should I use for the hard drive and is the cable standard IDE or is it something I need to get from a specialist supplier or ebay? Is there a particular image that I should be running to support the hard drive. I'm currently on sportster version from may 06.

Thirdly, I have noticed that the volume output to the scart cable is much lower than my pace box. Is there a menu setting to raise this - I have looked through the web and don't see any way of raising it. Maybe there's a menu hidden away that I have not found - the remote that came with the dbox is a bit hard to use - I have seen pictures of a different one that has more buttons and appears intuitive to use unlike mine which is DB-2SG and has the 4 coloured buttons, on/off '?' 'dbox' 'ok' 'home' and digits plus volume buttons and mute only.

So lastly, can anyone tell me if it's possible to get a better remote control, please?

Sorry this has been a bit lengthy, but life's like that i guess.
    Thanks

I'll try and answer some of your questions,

For the bouquet problem you can FTP into your box and delete bouquets.xml and reboot the box and add your own favourites. You have all those because you had the settings in the scan menu set to update.

The hard drive as far as I am aware cannot be over 137GB. Also you need to buy an IDE interface.Info on this link:

    Can't help with scart volume.

    New remote here: http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=dbox+remote

Your ghosting sounds like a scart lead problem, you need a good screened one. Avoid cheap ones that have thin cable.

You will not pick up the American satellite as it will be below our horizon.
