Got a big 'Not Allowed!' sign after entering that code. Oh well. At least 3 seem to have reduced there unlock price from £20 to £15. I found out they also block the Internet call port on their phones so you cannot use the SIP feature to make an Internet call (voip). To get round this however just install fring or octrotalk (.com).
Hi, I bought my E71 from 3 in Sydney. I'm in Singapore now, and am unable to use my local sim card here. I keyed in the code you printed here but it says "code error". Can I confirm with you if the code you printed in this forum is correct? Sorry to trouble you, and thanks a million! Cheers,
I may be wrong but I think the number is associated with the particular phone. Some time I had 2 Sony Ericsson P910's and was given the unlock code for one of them.. It didn't work on both. I assume it is the same for a Nokia E71. I also am with 3 and also was told that they would unlock it for £15 + the rest of the money owed on my contract (which is about 10 months worth) but if I did and continued to use 3 until the contract run out, I would only have to pay for excess usage to my plan. That way they could keep me with them without me losing any money by going to a different provider.. I told them to stick it!. Having a free customer service is fine but I find it difficult to understand what is being said most of the time plus because my signal is so bad I have to call them on my home phone and get them to call me back .
I see. You are right, it is associated with the IMEI on the phone. I will call them to get the unlock code. Thanks alot and take care! Cheers!
Well it would seem that the E71 can now be unlocked. I live in Manchester, UK and there are at least two shops here that can do it over the counter for about £25. They can also now unlock the iPhone 3G for £40. This begs the question..if they can do it why can't we? Anyone else have any more news?
Where abouts in manchester is this? I've been looking round and can't find anybody who wants to do it
The mobile shop in the market area of the Arndale Centre and the mobile shop at the back of the newsagents on the north side of Piccaddilly Gardens. Both are charging £25.
