Sorry if this is in the wrong place...

    non-system disk or disk error
please remove and strike any key when ready

My notebook is giving me this message when i boot it up. I removed the CD that was in the drive and even tried going into boot options to disable the CD drive but was unable to do so. There are no other drives connected (USB or SD flash) Does anyone know how to fix this?!

the computer is an HP/compaq nc6120.
I need it for school and would really like to get this fixed soon.
thanks in advance for the help

I did, but there's nothing of importance there.. i tried changing the boot order of the HHD and optical drive but it didnt work. There is an option to 'self test the HDD' but it's grayed out... which probably means the HDD crapped out?

i would say yes that the hd did die but not positive as i can't see it or play with it. could either get a new 2.5" hd or get an usb adapter to try out the hd on your desktop pc.
