I burned a movie to DVD, but when I try to use my reciever to play the sound, it does nothing, it doesn't even budge. When I use my tv to play the sound it works, so there is sound on the disc...

The DVD uses Mpeg 2 stereo sound at the moment, would converting it to another format (ac3) help? Or is there another solution...

It sounds like you may have your spdif set at 96Khz (on your player)....have a look, it should be at 48Khz as per dvd MPEG2 specs...

If it is the problem you will find that at 96Khz, that if you crank up the volume on your receiver you will here the background noise and no voice....

Other than that it maybe that your receiver cannot decode the signal produced from your dvd player (which I find hard to believe) or it is not connected correctly......

Thats all I can suggest really, especially if there is audio on the dvd, hope it helps.....
