I just reformatted my system. I have a bunch of video files on my d: drive that worked just fine before my reformat.

Every time I try to play a video it woll play with real player but when I try to play the files with divx player I get an error that says
I have tried two diofferent solutions.

    first try

I right clicked on the video files/open with divx player

as soon as i click open with divx player the error pops up.

    Second try

    I go into my documents
Go to Tools -> Folder Options....
Go to the File Types tab.
    Search for AVI file type.
Click the Change button for Open With and I choose divx player.

I updated realplayer my video card drives and divx player before I tried to play anything.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Run Chkdsk /f on the hard drive to check for errors.

uninstall the player, reboot and reinstall.

Check to see if there are any messages in the event viewer.
    (eventvwr.msc from the RUN box)

It may not be sorted under the application name.
Recreate the problem then enter the event viewer.

Look at application and system errors in the last few minutes.
