ntl in dublin cards and crad writers

has anyone heard about "card writers"
apparently you can buy one and re-write the ntl cards you get with the pace boxes ?

i have an ntl pace box and the basic subscription but someone said there is a way to re-write the card to get more channels.

i guess this is illegal but wouldn't mind knowing where to find more information.

i'd say your aswell off to buy a eurovox etc. card copiers probably wouldn't come cheap
