If you look at my sig it has fairly decent specs... but I always hear people talking about how good there nvidia 8600 GT's and whatever.. but I've been playing some demanding games on High details with NO LAG plus I run limewire, azureus, and aim in the background (doesnt really mean anything)... but I was wondering how you would compare the FX series to those other nvidia series and could the 8600 be that much better than a 6600FX that I have?... because mine seems flawless.
The 6600 isn't an FX, that was the 5000 series. It's either an FX5600, or just a 6600. I sincerely hope it's the latter. The 8600GT isn't that great, it's far better than the 6600, but on the scale of things, it's midrange at best. As for the 'demanding' games you've been running, can you give us some examples?
That sucks I bought it on ebay and it said geforce FX6600: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290144934904 but none the less I'm happy with it, I usually play F.E.A.R., BF2, UT2K4, Halo, and Two Worlds... F.E.A.R. has no problem I can run highest detail with ZERO lag, it's just I can't have any other programs running... Same with BF2 runs amazing Highest Detail no lag but yet again nothing else really on maybe besides limewire... But as for UT2K4, Halo, and Two Worlds I can run those Highest Detail ZERO lag and basically put whatever else I want on in the background.. are those demanding games i dono, but giv eme an idea of THE best I gotta test it out.
Yea I know... Zero lag on BF2?? With 6600?!? I had my older 6800GS 512mb overclocked, and it still couldnt play multiplayer with medium high settings!
I think he's willing to put up with a low frame rate, because the game will work at that resolution on that card, it'll just be around 10-20fps. The lag he gets is caused by his processor. GPUs don't cause lag, only low frame rates.
multiplayer for BF2... 30 frames per sec.. I can show u a screen shot if u don't believe me i don't really know how tho I have a gaming keyboard and I can't find the print screen key... I dont know about F.E.A.R. i deleted it cuz it was taking up space and I'm too scared to play it
theres no lag and it;s 30fps i dont really get why this is absurd? I have optimum online and I have like 10 - 30 ping avg.
I ran fraps and I averaged 32fps(standing still) - 45fps(running/looking around), heres a screeny... zoom in and notice the fps upper right hand: http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/3751/frapshj5.png Heres a screeny of the settings: http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/6170/videoma4.png ps. what is anti-aliasing...? and should i turn it on?
Anti-aliasing converts the jagged lines in games into smoothed out edges, which makes things look more real. It does however dramatically reduce your frame rate. The performance you've shown should be doable on a 6600GT, but not a standard 6600.
I put it up to 4x aliasing and I saw a minor reduction in fps but not major at all... still around 25-35 heres a screeny: http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/5733/aliasing4xsm2.png
Well he is running it at 1024x768, and 4xAA. I run mine with all high, 1280x960 and 16xAA and get about 50-85 fps on wake, mostly around 65-70 though, which is nice.
No such thing as 16x AA< it only ever went up to 8x, and usually it's only supported up to 6x. A lot of games mistakenly put it as 16x Anti-aliasing, when it is in fact some amount of anti-aliasing with 16x Anisotropic filtering. The latter is for improving angled 3D images over long distances. For example one of the pictures posted showed a ladder on the side of wall, that looked horrible, half of it was missing. This can be corrected with Anisotropic filtering. Some games offer it as one setting, others as two separate, and a lot of games don't offer it at all. Fortunately, it can also be enabled in your graphics card's control panel if that's the case.
