Binkie, if you meant Taken, did you know this has been out for over a year? I got the dvd already...since june of last year actually ;-)
Yep EnigmaCM that's the one. I saw in Sept I think it was - it's been a few months. Somebody alerted me to it otherwise I probably never would have seen it. I'm surprised it was finally released to theaters and on top of that took No. 1 last week! The cough release cough of it reminds me of 88 minutes.
@EnigmaCN You sure about Taken, it's in the theaters here in the states and almost assuredly not out on DVD? I could be wrong? There could be a previous "Taken" that I've never heard of. Or I could be a complete idiot about this situation. If so, just ignore me-I'm getting senile! olo
In a way you are right but I think Taken was a little better, 88 Minutes was a bit too predictable. I got another one for you, low budget and a very good drama, a few known actors. It's called Red.
Positive. This movie was out as a DVDRip last year, in June. I "acquired" a copy this way. Something happened in the distribution rights and was delayed from coming out here for a few months. The version I have is in English with I believe are Russian subtitles
Well, I got some time recently so I thought I'd watch some old movies I had lined up Saw Into The Blue - quite a good flick 8-8.5/10 Mr and Mrs Smith - nice movie with some great action scenes 8.5-9/10 I also saw burn after reading - Didn't quite get it After watching it I was sort of like What was the point of this Anyone else feel like this???
It was just your typical bad decisions turn into bad circumstances with a bit of senile personalities and a little black humor...yeah, i understand it was a bit like 'huh" which is why I watched it twice and the second time it made more sense. Best way to watch it is just separate the story lines, a lot easier to understand that way
@EnigmaCM Oh I just meant that 88 minutes was out as a rip like a year before it ever hit the theaters No Russian or any subs on the Taken I 'acquired'. I'm gping to check out Red - thanks for the tip. Yes garmoon you are going senile I liked Burn After Reading - thought it was hilarious - but then again the Cohen Bros. have that different/dark comedy going on that I like.
Gotcha...Same with Gran Torino and Defiance (well only a few weeks before release). By the way, Red is on DVD already. Now I also meant to tell you about this other movie called Sangre de mi Sangre (Blood of my Blood, it is a Mexican movie with English subs). This one is pretty good also and also on DVD
I love December They put out the better movies around then - well usually for award consideration - then distribute all the screeners for the awards ceremonies
I have started, as of last month, to "acquire" my movies through "other sources" as I'm saving all my extra cash for a new laptop and maybe a new tv. I'm already having withdrawls from not posting in the dvd shrink forum on the new releases. All I know is once I get a new laptop, I will be on a buying spree!!
Well garmoon I'm a bit senile/eccentric whatever tag you want to put to it But I think you'll get it.
I checked out Red at my blockbuster site, they have several, one about a dog getting killed, another about somebody calling a bartender, any of these ring a bell?
Oh Red - if it's the dog one I saw that - it is pretty good. @garmoon - glad you liked Burn After Reading! Yeah I thought McDormand and Pitt we're a total trip. Even George Clooney had his moments.
The one with the dog. I rented this sometime ago and it surprised me how good it was for a movie I had not heard except for in a dvd preview
Glad you liked Red. If you have seen Quarantine, see if you can "aquire" a movie by the name of REC. This is the original story, from Spain, hopefully with some subtitles. This is such a great movie. Quarantine is the remake of this. Don't know when or if this will come out on dvd in the states but it is well worth it
