Just Watched The International. Prety sory movie. Would be a good plot line if they would have elaborated on it more. Good thing I am not a paid critic but I have to say very porly writen screen play.
Has anyone seen Gran Torino? Several people told me it was boring and didn't like it. I have yet to watch it.
garmon, I saw Gran Toreno with friends and family, everybody loved it, of course the media tried to bill him as a racist, he was far from it, he just spoke his mind and always told the truth. You can call me names all day long to my face, just don't do it behind my back which he never did, he wasn't thief, a liar or a back stabber, those to me are far worse than a stupid racial slur. If people could read between the lines, this guy was a good person. I think you'll enjoy the movie.
It was a great movie. He just spoke what he was thinking, with no regard to political correctness. He appreciated someone who could stand on their own 2 feet, work for what they have, and not expect to get something for nothing.
Don't listen to them garmoon - listen to your friends at aD instead I'll second what fredbun and rtm27 posted on Gran Torino.
Last three movies in a theater: Up Star Trek Fast and Furious 4 On tap for this weekend Movies on Blu-Ray Watchmen: Tales from the Black Freighter Chungking Express (Hong Kong) In the theater: Terminator: Salvation But then again, the Casinos just sent me a "free money and a gift offer", so I may toodle on over there. Did we already discuss "Up" here?
ok guys I'll watch it today. @dailun Going to Biloxi's casinos this Wed 24th for our 31 anniversary. The wife loves to gamble. I watch and enjoy free cocktails. Beats work!
I'm another huge fan of Gran Torino. In fact, if left up to my opinion it would've taken the awards over Slumdog. You'll have to tell us what you think Garmoon.
Ok people I watched it (G Torino) this afternoon and it was a great movie, a little slow but still give it an 8.5. I'd recommend it to anyone. Surely better than the sex and slash Friday the 13th I watched yesterday.
Glad you enjoyed it Garmoon! I thought it was a fantastic film. Wonder if it's Mr. Eastwood's final leading role?
Binkie, got a few more that might interest you: Shuttle, about a group of people getting a shuttle bus from the airport only to be taking hostage in said shuttle bus, rather good actually This one is a little old now (about a few weeks old) but the latest Butterfly Effect 3: Revelation is very good. Think of it as a prequel to the original. Martyrs, gruesome at times but such a good and freaky French movie. Disturbing is another way to describe it
Cool - thanks for the movie recommends EnigmaCM! I will check them out over the next few weeks. Can't say I've seen have any real good ones the past few weeks. I did see Night at the Museum 2 - cute but not as good as the first imho. edit: typo
Let's see. In the last few weeks I've seen "District 9". For all the hype I would give it a 7. It's more of a Docu-Drama in my eyes, and the story line is a bit shaky at times. "Transformers 2" was better than I expected, and in my eyes it's a worthy sequel to the original. IMHO, it's worth a 9! The best of the new ones for me was "The Taking of Pelham 123"! I think it was better than the original, and I'm partial to that one as my late Father in Law was in the first one. Not as an actor, although he was paid for being in it as an extra. He was the Superintendent of the I.R.T. Subway System, in NYC at the time, and provided Technical Support and co-ordination for all the scenes shot below ground! He was paid rather well for his services! I rate the new one a 9+! I've also seen a few for the first time that are a little older that I feel are worth mentioning. "Phoebe in Wonderland" was excellent! Elle Fanning was wonderful as Phoebe. "The Bucket List". Now how can you go wrong with a movie with both Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman staring in it? The most enjoyable of these older movies was The Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian", a very worthy sequel to "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe". Highly recommended! "The Ultimate Gift" is another that will tear your heart out. It's a shame that the video editing looked like it was done by the "Thumbs", in the Spy Kids series! I did better video editing when I was 10, and had to work the old fashioned way, splicing film! You will absolutely need a box of Kleenex for that one. Abigail Breslin was great in it!
Watched Zombieland yesterday, thoroughly enjoyed it - clearly not to everyone's tastes, but I thought it was amazing. Recommended.
