if you have a version 1.0-1.5 xbox i would recommend the x3 or xenium ice...if you have a 1.6 i think the spider is the only option you have if you want solderless.
i have the spiderchip on my ver 1.6. Easy install couldn't be happier. Got it from www.consolesource.com with a 200gb hdd
voltron, What bios did you use to flash the spiderchip v1.1 with? What dashboard you using for it? Are you having any issues with it playing backups, playing movies, etc, etc? Thanks for your help. Just been hearing a lot of issues with this thing and don't want to waste money. Flandrel
i used evox m8 1.6 and slayers evox auto installer. I have no problem with playing movie back-ups but i have not tried a game back up yet.
Spider Chip is really a variation of Aladdin with spring wire attached. The flash memory is 256K only. The flash chip is soldered on the pcb without using a PLCC socket. For me, it is really hard to spend $39.99 for this vs. $12 for an Aladdin. You are paying $28 extra for the conviniece of some spring wire. Is it worth it?
Well already got the chip ordered and will be here Monday. Does anyone know if there are any issues with having to scrap the solder of any places on the board or any mess like it that will have to be done? And also any issues with playing both backup movies and games and originals as well? Thanks Flandrel
I a little stuck on how the bios affects everything, i know that the spider chip has less than the new xenium and the others, whats the difference?
OK IVE INSTALLED SPIDERCHIP ON MY XBOX AND IT WAS SUCCESS FUL NOW IM HAVING PROBLEMS FINDING ANY DISK TO FLASH IT WITH THEY ALL SAY HALT! I DON'T KNOW WHICH TO USE PLEASE HELP!!!!!
