Picture this: You die via a tragic accident, You cannot say goodbye to your baby girl or your wife (Thats beside the point) Anyway, so your dead, and then this show makes you look like an irresponsible alcoholic and personally mocks you on International television after you are dead... everyone laughs, Not with, But [bold]at[/bold] you. Now think what his family feel, His wife whom is still grieving, sees this. How would you feel? Also, How would you feel know that one day, your daughter (with no father) is going to one day see that clip, now just imagine what the daughter would feel. I think it is sick and tasteless for this to even be written let alone Aired. I have watched 2 episodes of South Park, And see it as a tasteless horriblely animated childish substitute of the Simpson's. If you want to watch it fine, I for one, Never will. What is less tasteful? Anyone who deserves to be called a man and not a gigley child would no the answer to that question.
yep....... i'am a large fan of South Park, but when i saw that eposide i was pissed...thought that was very cruel, so quick very cruel...will continue to be a large fan ...... good day......................
It seems the Crocodile Hunter missed the educational part about the Sting Ray's barbed stinger. A similar thing happened in Florida where a man was pierced in the heart. Instead of pulling the stinger out and ripping the heart muscle, he got to the emergency room where the barb, in a tedious operation, was push thru the heart and removed on it's exit so as to do little damage to the heart muscle. He survived the attack and was an elderly person. So had Steve left the barb in and gotten help he may have survived. It was a tragic accident. South park is south park; what can you say?
I agree that certain things are taboo, even though you can do something doesnt mean you should. But I am I watching a different cartoon clip than every one else? I didnt see anyone direspect Steve Irwin, I did see Satan himself walk over and say thats extremely poor taste to think it is an acceptable costume. Right or wrong, there always is a person in the crowd that goes too far, so they made fun of the jerk that acts like that, not Steve Irwin. I mean if Satan tells you its a no-no, you know you are an unworthy soul.
People have their own opinions on what's taboo or not. Like that guy wearing a T-shirt depicting a timebomb strapped to his chest.
Am i the only person whom sees something wrong with this? Isn't this in itself the problem? No-one care because were all used to the 'South park is south park; what can you say?' Its just wrong and un-acceptable... Anyway I am not here to campaign against southpark.
Then stop campaigning against south park! It'll be on TV till people stop watching. It's the money stupid! Not you NicHt!
NicHt.......................I could not agree with you more!!Its all "very well" to poke fun etc at someone who has dies (or whatever) but those that "approve" of it will the first to be screaming & complaining if it was about someone near & dear to them! As also has been said its "South Park" well there is another problem. People have started to accept that kind of "humour/standard" on the tube, where will it end? How low can you go? There is no wonder that some kids today are as they are because of the decline in standards. I do not like the program & personally I think it has a great deal to answer for!
I've always looked at it like this: If you don't like it don't watch it, drink it, smoke it, drive it, or sleep with it. I try to avoid things I think I won't like whenever possible. I think it was very unforunate how Steve Irwin died and I feel for his family. He knew the risks of what he was doing. Does that make it right to make fun of his demise? Who knows, but if you watch South Park and are easily offended, you will probably see something you don't like. If I want safe, mind-numbing enterainment I'll watch reruns of Alf. If I want something that is at times edgy enough to make me think, I'll turn to something like South Park. To each his own!
@david I know, I agree with you! (in saying dont watch it... I wont) I'm not at all telling anyone to stop. And we are not easily offended at all, we (or at least I) are not especially offended. It's that this horribly disrespectful and odd show has become the norm. Back in my day... Or someone else's who is quite a bit older then me. This would never fly, this show, amongst other things are bringing the standered of this generation down. But whatever... I wont watch it, Im not saying for you guys not to watch it, im just sayng what i think.
Sorry but if you can't move with the society then you'll get left behind. But you'll never accept this so I shouldn't even bother telling you.
They didn't wait long, did they. In fact, that is the fastest I can remember them spoofing someone after something noteable.
I do not understand how people who actually watched the video clip still say that it was spoofing Mr. Irwin, disrespectful to Mr. Irwin or making fun of his untimely demise at all. I wont copy and repeat my last post, but this was a shot at the people who go too far on Halloween. Not Steve Irwin. Steve Irwin was just the most recent example used to try and proove a bigger point.
Why is anyone complaining? South Park is pure filth and that's what makes it so hilarious. If you are easily offended or shocked, you should've sussed about 10 seasons ago that South Park isn't for you.. You really think Steve Irwin would care, anyway? The guy was a livewire and a nutcase.. he would prob. just be laughing..
personally i know some people that would love to be made fun of on south park after they are dead. but i for one would not complain if a relative of mine was mocked on south park (and i do mean that honestly before anyone asks,(if you want conformation of this ask auslander)). it also depends on what generation you were born in, dont forget that. w2hile i agree that the standards for what is on tv nowadays is a lot loosser than it was even ten years ago, in todays society thats just not the case. thats how people nowadays are, more blood, violence, taboo, blah blah blah. is it a good thing, prolly not, but thats the way it is, change happens, all you can do is get used to it. cause once its happened its usually very difficult to change back.
