Other than physically destroying the disk, is there a way to make the data on cd or dvd media to be destroyed? Is it true, a black magic marker over the disk would accomplish that? Is there any software capable of making it unreadable?

    thank you for your time

The disc has to be destroyed, either by cracking it or scratching of a large section of lacquer/reflective area. A reading laser focuses below the black magic marks and may be able to pick up some data. There is no software capable of making a disc unreadable because the discs have been finalized, meaning nothing more can be added.

Thank you for the response. I guess some serious scratching of the disk is best.

    Thanks again,
