My buddy gave a Onkyo Integra TX-SV919THX receiver. On the screen it comes up with (PROTECT). I dont get any sound I was wondering if someone had an idea about get the PROTECT to go away. I tried to look for info on the receiver but no luck. Thanks

Usually this is a shorted speaker or speaker wire. Disconnect all speaker wires, power up system. If protect is still there you probably have a problem internally. If the protect is gone, connect speakers one at a time until you find the bad speaker. Once you find it you will need to determine if it is the wire or the speaker. This easiest way to do this is connect the speaker to a location that you have determined to be good.
