There are plenty of people able to flash the Nokia DBox and also help and tutorials for free for anyone that wants it.

....or you could just set up a thread explaining to people how to do it.

Or you could figure out how that image is now working yourself. Do you think it was put in to Eamos for a fee?

BTW a Xover cable works perfectly well if you know where to send the files.

I was only taking the p**s about a fee. I knew a few people would reply to it to get this out there again as there has not been much info related to this recently since N*L sorted thier sh*t out.

The cross over calbe runs at 10mps. A router run's at 100mps which is more stable and fatster hmmm.

Ah no on a serious note when using the Dbox flashing assistant it kept timing out from the cross over.

When I used a router it was done and dusted in 2 min

There is a lot of info relating to both the mgcamd and hypercam fix. There is also a lot of info about how to implement them.

You should have used the portable version of IFA dependent on your OS. I presume you also used a null modem cable with the cross over on IFA, if so what did it say in the log?

    You will need-
1: Dbox2 :| an image to use for flashing.
2: pc or laptop with RJ-45 connection
    3: null modem cable
    4: OR
5: network cable (i dont use both together)
    6: Image flashing assistant

    Working system -
    (settings on the dbox)
    Network setup -
    static IP address - 192.168.0.20
    subnet - 255.255.255.0
default gateway - 192.168.0.1 (your router or PC IP )

    Network Setup
connect your network cable to your router / router to your pc using standard RJ-45 patch cables, if using a peer2peer network setup, plug the network cable into the dbox2 then the other end into your pc's network card, assign your pc a static ip to allow the dbox2 and the pc to connect with each other.

1: grab your self a download of IFA (Image flashing Assistant)
2: load it up and select the image to flash,
3: select your network card from the drop down list,
4: click next and it will minimize to the task bar, with a new console window opened up, (this wont display any info, only with a connected Null Modem cable connected, thats later)
5: after you click next go to your Dbox2 unplug it from the wall, wait 2 or 3 sec then plug it back in, if all is well you should see the LCD reading FLASHING once it reads FINISHED unplug your box from the wall...
dont plug it back in yet.
6: Go to your PC and stop IFA or else when you plug back in your dbox2 it will start the flashing process again and we dont want that.
7: after the program stops go to your dbox and start it up,

It said all that in your log :)

Thanks for the post, they are in all the Dbox threads, (similar guides) and also in Eamos at the end of my post.

Did you change the boot logo?

    Hey Scouser,

No I haven't changed the boot logo yet! Ill have to put Michael owen up though soon in a man u shirt.

Re:the files you were talking about mc etc. I spent around 30 hours arsing around trying to figure it out.

Just load the new image with the flashing tool, stay away from the cross over cable. Use a router with two network cables 1 in pc to router other in Dbox to router.

Flash the new image presto. In work now again so can't spend much more time on this.

    Enjoy

I know that's why the image was put into Eamos for in the first place. If people got stuck or in your case didn't have the time ;)

Can I just add to the tread about PAYING for info.

I have been looking at this site for years, and can I say that I have enjoyed the banter that its offering, but I am very annoyed that people can come on to the site and look for a FEE for info.
Can these treads be lifted as soon as someone puts them on? or at least short time after.Cheers

Hubabuba,I'd be willing to pay to have someone to fix or flash my box,as I dont know how,and dont have the equipment to do it myself.

But posts that advertise something like is against the rules, its advertising, whether is a box or fixing etc. Put it up on Gumtree as a service if someone wants to.
