    Hi Gary-

I assume you're working with Excel. Are these work sheets in the same document?

If so, open it and, in the View tab, select Side by Side and choose a work sheet to compare it with. If the second window doesn't have any content, just select the work sheet at the bottom of the page.

There are a number of ways to do that. Probably the easiest way is to open one of the work sheets in Excel. Then, open another work sheet using the Open. You can open as many as you want.

When done, click on View and select View Side by Side. There are other methods such as Arrange All.

Let me know what works the best for you.

What I am trying to do is this... I have about 5 docs of names and addresses and I want to compare each of them and find and delete duplicates and put everything in one single sheet. There are over 2000 names and addresses.
    Is this possible to do?
    Thank You,
    Gary

Which version of Excel are you using?

You said you saved Work Sheets. What format did you save them in?

You didn't say why you weren't able to do what I suggested. Please explain.

Another option is to open each file in a separate version of Excel without closing any of them. Do this without any other program open.

Then right click on the taskbar and select to either Cascade Windows or use one of the "Show Windows....." options, which ever suits you.

New to Excel, so may be asking the wrong question.
I see many examples in tutorials that at the bottom which have Sheet 1, Sheet 2 etc.
    All which have different data.
I cannot seem to do that, especially if what you are trying to tell me to open them is true.

    Copied

    Thank You,

By default, you should see several worksheets designated at the bottom of the screen. If Sheet 1 is the only one shown, right click on the little icon next to it on the right. That will insert a new work sheet.

I understand what you want to do with multiple sheets, once created, but I'm still confused about whether they're in separate documents or within the same document (xlsx).

    Sorry, again.
Separate docs that are already made up.

Did you open Document 1 then click on the Office Button on the upper left and select Open and specify say, Document 2 and repeat that for all the desired documents? If you did, were you able to select one of the options I mentioned by right clicking on the Desktop Taskbar? You haven't told me what fails for any of my suggestions so I can't advise on how to fix it..

    No, not at all!
I'll just have to forget about it and move on!
Thanks for all your help and patience!

You got me interested so I tried a few things. I tried the method I gave you in post 4 but it didn't work. After opening each file, I needed to grab the edge of the screen to make the file display smaller. Then I selected View and clicked on View Side by Side. Select to compare the first document with the second document. Then, click on View Side by Side and select the third document. That is shown below but note that you can resize each file and move them around to suit-

3 excel files opened at once after resizing windows.JPG

I also tried opening each file in a separate instance of Excel. Then, I chose Open Windows Side by Side by right clicking on the taskbar.. This is what it looks like-

3 excel files opened at once.JPG

By the way, for the above example, I saved the same file with a different name 3 times.

Am new to all this again but am assuming that the sheets 1 and 2 at the very bottom are called tabs, right?

I'm not sure what you're showing me. Which version of Excel are you using?

I assume you saw my last post which I edited a couple of times.

After I posted this, I had to edit post 14 one more time.
