ok, i have my PS3 hooked up to my Phillips HTS3544/37 Home Theater System via an optical to coaxial converter, one of these to be exact:

    http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Prod...nline&category=Toslink+Cables&product=4208561

it is hooked up with both Phillips brand Optical and Coaxial cables:

    - Toslink Optical (3ft/.9m) gold tips, not sure if that means anything for optical cables or not

    - Digital Coaxial (6ft/1.8m) 24k gold tips

it's not very often but a few times within an hour i will get split second audio drops and they are really annoying... im wondering if it would be my PS3, my home theater system, my converter or my cables?

i would think its the cables since the drops are farther apart and fewer ever since i changed from my cheap 5 dollar optical cable to the Phillips one, but i also remember reading in my instructions for the converter (which i lost) that you should NOT use either cables for it if they are longer than around 3ft so should i try and get a shorter good quality coaxial cable? i could use it for something else if it doesn't help so it won't be a waste of money.

    so to sum it up:

    1. what could my problem be that gives me the audio drops?
    2. should i try out a new coaxial cable, and if so what would you suggest?
    3. and if its the converter that has a problem (maybe crap quality?) could you suggest something else? my home theater does NOT have optical input so that is not an option, i need a converter...

i have found only 2 other options, please let me know what you think

I've been trying to get the converter to work on the same set up, even with the same speakers and I don't get any sound. Did you have to change any particular settings to get this to work? I've tried most of the things I can think of and still have not been able to get it to work. Either I've got a bad cable some place, the converter isn't working or there is a setting I'm missing someplace. What did you have to do to get this to work??
