I have an Optorite 4x DVD Burner installed on my PC. However, whenever I encode/burn, the speeds I'm achieving are nowhere near 4x. Is there a problem with my drive set up, or what? When I encode something I usually achieve speeds of around 1,353KB/s. Likewise, when I'm burning, I usually achieve speeds of around 2,770 KB/s. Is this normal? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks. Shaun
Lemme see now, That speed (2,770 KB/s) is a little over 2x so must take 1/2 hour or so to burn DVD right? If you get good media, and check your settings carefully, you should be able to achieve the full 4x speed of approx 5MB/second. You will need a modern PC with fast harddisks and a strong CPU, though... Perhaps this is what is holding back your speeds. What is your burning software? Regards
Hi OGS, Thanks for the reply I appreciate it. It generally takes me 45 mins to burn. I use DVD Decrypter or Nero. I've only got a 40GB harddrive 256mb RAM and an Intel Celeron 1.70GHz processor. I might need a little advice on the settings though. The media I use is Datawrite DVD-R. Crappy set up I know. Thanks. Shaun
