    BenQ DW822A
    LG GSA-4082B
    LG GSA-4120B
    LiteOn SOHW-1213S
    LiteOn SOHW-812S
    NEC ND-2500A
    NEC ND-2510A
    Pioneer DVR-107
    Pioneer DVR-A07
    Pioneer DVR-A07XLA
    Toshiba SDR5272

So which dvd rw should I get from this list :)? I would need the following requirements:
-it will be my only dvd drive, so it has to be a good reader.
-it needs to burn well with cheap dvd +/- media
    -bitsetting capability
-dual layer would also be nice

out of those drives i would go with the nec ND 2510a... bitsetting is not a function of the drive but of the software in question. Its dual layer, reads fine for me and dont buy cheap media.. its not worth it at all... you make so many coasters and you have so many burned dvds dieing so quickly it will actually cost you more in the long run.

The Lite On SOWH-832S would be a good option considering your bitsetting and dual layer requirements.

Bitsetting tools for Lite On burners can be found here:

Nothing wrong with this but you're going to put more wear and tear on your burner this way. A $30 Lite On 166S will take the ripping load off your burner as well as rip at much faster speeds without resorting to firmware hacks.

Sorry to say but when you stuff crap in you're burner, you're going to get crap back out. No burner is going to make for cheap media. Quality media is worth it especially with Ritek G04 going for around .50 cents apiece nowadays :)
