Oh yeah, when i said i'd get my 2800 to 3.0, i got it to 3 and it got into windows and then locked up after 10 minutes. I had the windows open and my door cracked and it was during an ice storm! It was 7 degrees outside!!! Someday, hopefully, i can hold it at that temp without liquid. I'll keep tryin though.

isnt 200mhz FSB unstable? i tried it w/ 1.850v and i often get bluescreens. My cooling is a water kit, just got it :D

200 is just fine for mine. 1.85 Volts is not safe. You can screw up your processor. I dont understand why you're worried about your temp if your fsb would be at 200 and you are watercooling your processor. The only thing I'm worried about for you is your voltage.

with 200mhz, i get an error in prime95 and that also goes for 191+.
i think 1.850 is pretty good!

Hi there...new to the forum. Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in. Have a Barton 2800, and my temperature without overclocking runs between 31 and 32 degrees celcius. For some reason the case I purchased had the rear fan turned backwards, before I switched it around the temps were between 40 and 41 celcius. Ten degree improvement with just one fan. Now I think I'll venture into overclocking this bad baby.

hi slimnuts welcome to the forums!!!
wow 10 degrees with a single fan we all know that a big case helps but 3-5 maybe 7 degrees 10 that nice lucky you. i have 12 case fans im a fan lover..

but anyway you got a good mobo via chipset like kt266 or kt600 are not very overclocking freindly nforce 2 is the best in that matter. newer vias like kt-600, kt800 and msi mobos with the corcell chip that has a lots of ovc settings that something else...

but go ahead build your own xperience like all of us read and ask a lot in this forums when i first came to this forum i didnt know anything about ovc and know im helping others!!!.
something else your cpu cooler let see how it handle the extra heat your cpu gonna throw.

    remember:
1-bartons are lock (vant change mult. 12.5 ofcourse your mobo wont let you).
    2-change fsb in small amount
3-higher fsb higher vcore (remember not to pass 1.8volt)
4-extra cooling fans for your case intakes and exhaust.

    let us know:
^^overclocking is not about the numbers^^

I have an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe with a AMD Athlon XP 2800+ @2.21 GHZ !!! It is possible to do but a pain in the butt!! The V-Core is set to 1.7, the multiplier is 12.5 and the FSB is set to 177MHZ. I have 1.5 GB of PC3200 @202MHZ! I have had the FSB all the way up to 185MHZ resulting in 2.32GHZ but it wasnt the most stable computer!!!! So i returned it to the 177 and it runs great!!!! But recentl;y I added a SATA 120GB drive and that increased the overall performance of everything!!!! Now I have 2 - 80GB ATA and 1 SATA 120GB and i am impressed with it all together!!!!

I had mine @ 2.37GHZ but it wasnt that stable! Please lemme know! I am not a newbie I just dont post threads cause usually no one can help!!!!!

I just turned my voltage up to 1.75 and my fsb to 180mhz and got 2.255GHZ out of my AMD 2800+ barton core. My only problem is my memory speed isnt what it is supposed to be! I have PC3200 but it is running @ PC2900 - 180MHZ how do I fix this! (I do have a friggen PC2700 512 stick in my computer but the other 2 are PC3200) If I take out the PC2700 will it run at the right speed?

    ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe
    AMD Athlon 2800+ @2.255GHZ
    12.5 x 180MHZ FSB @1.75 V-Core
    ATI Radeon 9600 256MB AGP 8x
    2 - ATA 133 - 80GB Samsung
    1 - SATA 150 - 120GB WD
    2 - Sony 12x DVD-RW Drives
    2 - PC3200 512MB Dual Channel
    1 - PC2700 512MB Dual Channel

    yes no yugio sorry:!!
hello shwaggy. i got my xp at 2.375 with 1.775volts my memory ram/fsb ratio 1:1.
look the same happens to my with the abit nf7 mobo couldnt get pass 180 fsb with the same memory i had now. when i change to asus i set it to 2.37ghz stable i run prime95 for several hour with no errors (that means is stable but i dont think so!!). but let me tell you with the asus and the abit i found out that xp 2800+ in 175-180fsb works!! great even better than 195-200 stable,,,..

about your pc what cooler you have?
    your mem cas latency timing?
    and fsb/ram ratio?
those are very important settings for stability when oc-king!!
let me know we have same mobo and cpu.

I got the FSB up to 181MHZ and it is pretty stable at 2.26GHz .... I got a wild CPU Cooler the ASUS Star Ice @ about 5000RPM (quietly!). The Temp is @53C (bout 20 degrees more than normal) I havent taken the PC2700 Stick out yet.....waiting for another PC3200 The cas latency timings are :
    Type : DDR-SDRAM PC2900
    Frequency : 181 MHz
    FSB/DRAM Multiplier : 1/1x
    Channels : Dual
CAS Latency (tCL) : 3 clocks
RAS to CAS (tRCD) : 4 clocks
RAS Precharge (tRP) : 4 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) : 8 clocks
(1 last question) I have been trying to install PC Probe, an ASUS temp monitor.......I have had it on here for a long time but recently I had to reinstall it and now when I open the install file i get this damn 16 bit subsystem message: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEVEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications!!!! WTF can i do to fix this? I have tried several things but i cant figure it out!!!1

Hey Dr.xp Can you do me a favor an lemme know what ur OC settings are please! I wanna get my 2800+ Barton all the way up to 3GHZ like the guys here http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/AMD/Barton/
How the heck do they get there clocks so high? And are these the same chips we use in our computers cause most of them are from Japan.... Thanks for all the help! (Knowing someone else Overclocked as high as me safely makes me feel better about OCing) Now i know people overclocked the same processor as me to 3.2GHZ!
Anyway I have yet another question...... I am almost positive it was from overclocking but I have run all kinds of stress tests and i have decided my computer is stable but every once in a while attempting to Backup my DVD's and when my cpu intense screensaver comes on my computer monitor goes blank and the HD LED stops blinking meaning it froze! I am not sure if it is my Graphics Card or if it is from the overclocking? Please anything would be helpful cause i am sick of it! (although windows loads in like 30 seconds with the SATA drives) it is still a pain in the booty!
