CPU and RAM settings were 166. I have reinstalled my 1600 for troubleshooting purposes and everything returned to normal. I couln't even play DVD's with the 2800.

Also, there are updates at SOYO for my bios. Should I try to flash my bios with the updates? I hear this is risky.

Well, flashing didn't work. My computer froze at the point of programing.

Well, It's official. Your computer hates you. I say run a magnet across it. My old one hated me. It literally exploded. Smoke and sparks shot out everywhere so I know what it's like to have a computer hate you.

i still think your mobo doesnt support bartons try to get another mobo with nforce 2 chipset or via kt800 (did i said via!!!)

dude...VIA??? C'mon man....nForce2 is the way to go with an athlon xp. The Doc's right, you need to check the internet if your board does have any incompatibility issues with the barton core. That would definately suck though. Is there anyone here from Kentucky yet?

Ok guys, new mobo installed with Nvidia chipset. CPU is running fine, overclocked one step to test. So far so good, just need to pick up that Thermaltake Volcano 12 cpu fan. I don't like the temp readings I'm getting right now.

Does that stuff really help THAT much???

I have used artic silver on both cpu and graphics card and it does knock a few extra deg off, compared to the stuff you get supplied with in kit form

heh. I might get some then for the ole proc/heatsink. I wont put it on my graphics card though. That thermaltake giantIII was a "blessing" to put together and I'm sure it won't be any better taking it apart to put some grease on it.

Well, somehow I must have fried my cpu. I installed my new volcano cpu fan but can't think of anything that I did wrong. I installed my old 1600 cpu and it booted up fine. I can't win for losing. Anyone know where I can get another 2800. Are the Semprons any good?

hey kolanjoku and jonni there are two kind of artic silver one is the thermal grease which really works i knock 5-7 cÂș on both my gigabyte 3d cooler and volcano 12.
and the other one the thermal adhesive that if for chipset and vga once there it never comes off jejejeje not!"!! theres and artic silver remover that you can use for either the adhesive and t.grease

OK, new 2800 on the way. Now, I installed the volcano, but why doesn't the speed control work. Anyone else have this problem?

Hi striker68 , did you connect the temp sensor supplied with the volcano 12 if so i think that cancels out the manual speed control and put's it on auto i.e as cpu temp rises fan speed increases automatically ...
