Do you all think that 2.388 GHz is too hard on an Athlon XP 2800+ (Barton)

You can change the multiplier, but most likely, it won't boot, because it is locked. So you need to change the FSB. Yes, I have a 2800+.

2.388 is probibly too hard on it. Try a Prime 95 torture test on it. If the test stops with an error then you are clocked too high. Reduce the FSB and try again. I'm running 2.255 on my 2800+ and I was able to run the test for atleast 12 hours without errors, which means my system is 100% stable at this clock speed.

Would it even help if i was running it with PC 3200 DDR RAM and the temp NEVER goes above 95 degrees farenheit?

Yea, PC3200 is good, and that is awesome that it doesn't get that hot. It must be loud though....

heck yeah it's loud. The Thermaltake Volcano 12 heatsink is more like a turbine! It sounds so loud i had to move my alarm clock right next to me because i couldnt hear it over my computer lol. I like the loudness though. It means it's working you know?

Nice review on Newegg, lol. I usually keep my Cooler Master Jet at about 3000 rpm. Nice and quiet and keeps the processor around 46-48 degrees idle depending on the room temp. If it gets into the high 50s or above 60 then you have a problem.

Sounds good to me, try testing it with Prime 95. Keep pushing it and testing it with Prime.

It's safe. It will shut itself down and give you an error message if it is unstable.

How long does it take to test with prime 95? I ran the test really early in the morning and when i got back from work, it was still going. Anyway, what do some of you all think about HD cooling fans? Are they really that needed? I feel like i have enough fans in my case but i dunno. Give me some feedback guys.

Did you run a torture test on Prime? Because if you run a torture test for about 12 hours or so, then that clock speed should be stable. How did you get 2.388GHz stable... I can only get mine up to 2.255GHz, hmmm, maybe it's my video card, lol. That seems to be my scapegoat for everything.

Just a suggestion, you might want to start a new thread about the HDD fans. I don't think the admins like the thread going off the topic. There might alredy be reviews in another thread about HDD fans also. (I have two case fans that blow directly over each of my HDDs. Keeps them real cool.)
