@Ricochet2 - you're well within limits there. The danger limit for a 2800 is 85C. As per my signature - Ambient - 27C, CPU Idle - 59C, CPU working - 68C : the best i can get in my tidgy case (am more than happy with this tho). I could get better cooling, but at the expense of the racket it would create. I just don't want the noise anymore, it's a tad too loud now but have got used to it. A far cry from my days of 12or14 fans in a case

Hi kon1g, i've had a quick look @ the on line manual for you mobo and you can alter all you setting's manually i.e fsb, voltages and so on , go in to your advanceed chipset settings in you bios and select manual this should allow you to select a cpu fsb & memory frequency then go in to the frequency control in you bios an this will allow you to set the Vcore & Dimm voltage ( leave the AGP voltage alone ), try small increase's to find the best performance and stabillity ....is your 9800pro 128 or 256 ? also don't forget to change the switches on the mobo ...lol

He still needs to change the switches on the motherboard. That's how gigabyte boards are.

You have to read the manual to tell what they mean. I can't fully remember but those are what you need to overclock. I believe that on switch keeps the fsb at 100 for a safety thing and must be turned off. Then the numbers represent the different multiplier settings. Just find the manual, crack it open, and read what it says man. That's the only way I can help you out.

did your motherboard come with a yellow sticker that had a bunch of crap written on it? That yellow sticker has your settings. Then you have to match those settings with the ones in your bios. Gigabyte boards are a whore to overclock!

    hello guys!!
kon1 ive been reading about your mobo and some guy toll me this:

[bold]there is a bios page to set your clockspeed, it's hidden. go to the page that reads your voltages and press ctrl+f1 and set your clockspeed correctly.[/bold]

and try updating your bios to v.12 or f12 or something like that but try the bios page.

ricochet get another cooler kolanjoku and me we are aircooling fans specially the marvelous volcano 12!!!! jejejeje (thermaltake should sponsor us!!!)

i got it going at 2.25 ghz now with 180 fsb..... im kinda scared to set it to 200 b/c i dont have my cooling unit yet all i have is 3 fans and the fan on the heatsinks thats on top of my processor.. the problems was when i would turn that oc switch to ON and set my Performance in bios to TURBO it wouldnt boot up but if i set PERFORMANCE to manual and set my FSB to 180 and turn up the voltages everything works :) but still would it be worth switching to a 64bit 3200+!?

athlon64 model 2800-3200+ they are ok they run really good but ihve seen it and some times you cant tell de difference they even have the same 512kb l2 cache as bartons, know the extra boost is in the integrated into chip fsb 800mhz..

look get the juice out of your 2800xp+ is one of the great amd cpus ever along with the xp 3200+ really fly!!!.

So glad i didn't get a Gigabyte mobo, just looking at the pdf manual had me scratching my head ...Well you seem to have it running stable for now ...what is your memory rated @ i.e pc2700/pc3200 etc,etc and what brand as this could limit your o.c ing attempts .... Yes the 64bit would be a good upgrade ....Nice case Dr.xp how abouta shot of the insides ;)
